I had a Steak and Onion pie with chips and black pudding in Rothley last week, divine.

Basically any pie with meat and gravy in, but it's gotta be beef or steak. Puff pastry.

I have a client in Banbury and whenever I go there, we always have lunch at this place:

Famous for it's award winning pies and if you're ever in that neck of the woods, it's a must visit.

My favorite is their roast turkey, stuffing and gravy pie with puff pastry - it's out of this world...

I sometimes go hiking out that way, Izzy, and I'm always on the lookout for a nice lunch experience - I'll be giving this place a go.

Puff pastry is for... well, you know.

As for that crap which you describe as a deconstructed pie, no, that's stew wearing a hat.

Nice one mate, you won't be disappointed I promise. Just look at the reviews on Trip Adviser and also the photos - and the portion sizes are massive!!

Cream

Thought about that but then thought if your not having a chicken and gravy pie your having a chicken with a cream sauce. Similar with fish.

That's the problem Matt, there's just too much choice. I've tried most of them over the years and they've all been fantastic.

It's a bit short on vegetarian fare, but I'm drooling at the thought of the cheese and cauliflower, and the mushroom with cream and tarragon.

Ah bugger, I forgot you're a veggie. Do you eat fish? The smokey fish pie is gorgeous.

Even the ones without meat, Matt?

Astonishing.
