eddylcfc Posted 2 July 2017 Posted 2 July 2017 Depressing being linked with players alongside Swansea and Watford. Goodness me we really ****ed up last season. We had the chance of a generation to go big and we signed Ahmed frickin Musa et al.
HighPeakFox Posted 2 July 2017 Posted 2 July 2017 Did someone mention last summer being poor? Excellent!

HighPeakFox Posted 2 July 2017 Posted 2 July 2017 I really feel people are too cheery and optimistic on here.
MPH Posted 2 July 2017 Posted 2 July 2017 This came out the day after his newspaper ' interview' which talked about him not getting enough game time so I'd say it's all agent talk trying to get his lad a move...

Buce Posted 2 July 2017 Posted 2 July 2017 Just now, Nickfosse said: Who set us on a remarkable run that saved us from near certain relegation. Remarkable? Behave - it was nothing more than adequate. I know it's probably a minority viewpoint, but Shakey's appointment showed an underwhelming lack of ambition, as did last year's player recruitment. Just my opinion, of course.
RoyFox Posted 2 July 2017 Posted 2 July 2017 Very good player, but he's quite defensive. A more creative midfielder would give us another dimension.

Just my opinion, of course. 5 wins on the trot from first 5 premier league games is no better than adequate? Name another English manager who has ever achieved that? Don't think I'm the one who needs to behave as you so eloquently put it.

I would like this signing, personally want us (over the next 3/4 years) build a more progressive and possession based game rather than just counter attacking long balls all the time, and Nat Chalobah would help towards that I think. disclaimer: I don't want a 60/70% based possession game I just want us to have more than 30% possession per game!

There was clearly something wrong under Claudio, and Shakey reaped the benefit of new manager bounce.
Stoney7 Posted 2 July 2017 Posted 2 July 2017 I thought that him and n'didi played similarly so would he have to take n'didis place
Frank_mckenzie Posted 2 July 2017 Posted 2 July 2017 I think you could play chalobah with n'didi if you had say gylfi in front of them but not so much in a flat four.

Last summer was shit for transfers and not everyone wanted Shakes to get the job but that's what happened. Can we please move the fvck on or at the very least, leave moaning about it to the appropriate thread.

Tuna Posted 2 July 2017 Posted 2 July 2017 Could be an inspired signing, young, relatively experienced and with a point to prove. I like it a lot.
Clever Fox Posted 2 July 2017 Posted 2 July 2017 I seem to remember him scoring a few cracking long range Goals from midfield. A skill were clearly lacking in recent seasons. He strong and quick and experienced. I can't see anything that's not to like about him.

Mine is that he is a very good fit for our football club. As a matter of interest, who would you have appointed?

To be fair, i think it did help that four of those first five premier league games that were won were at home, with three of those games being against Hull, Stoke and Sunderland. I would certainly be expecting us to win those games at home, in any season. The other two were Liverpool, which was probably our best performance of the season, probably helped by the media laying into our players leading up to that game, giving them a reason to perform and give the finger to the media, and away at West Ham which is always a good result, but tempered slightly by the fact that West Ham were pretty hopeless at home last season.
sdb Posted 2 July 2017 Posted 2 July 2017 We've go at enough OK midfielders. We need to buy one that's going to dominate. Otherwise why not just stick with Mendy, James, King.
sdb Posted 2 July 2017 Posted 2 July 2017 25 minutes ago, Worthington said: Mendy apparently wants out and it seems we're happy to facilitate that. James...????? We yet have to see just what effect, if any, his injury has had regarding his mobility and performance ! King ??? Most on here don't seem to rate him. I do, but as what he is, a SQUAD player. At 28 he's unlikely to improve his abilities, he is loyal though and seems content in his non-regular role! Can't see the negatives in adding to that with a promising young midfielder. He'd obviously leapfrog Mendy in the pecking order if Nampalys ain't here and, personally, I'd say he's already an upgrade on AK ! My point is we're going to add to a bloated part of our squad without improving our starting 11. Mendy came from a CL club in France. Surely he'd be a better bet if now fit. James and King are mediocre but is Chalobah any better?
