RumbleFox Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 Actual quotations. It seems he was frustrated and maybe reacted in not the best way but I certainly do not read anything there that makes me dislike him or for which I would force him to apologise. He stepped in at a moment where Vardy was out and he delivered. He obviously felt he was made promises which were not kept and wanted just to play. It sounds more like he wanted to play, or at least be a part of the plans than it being about money? Anyway, as I said, if he is happy to stay as back up I cannot think of many better players wiling to take that role. “I feel betrayed by Ranieri and let down by the club. I will not play again for them,” “The manager’s been telling me for the last two weeks that if an offer of around £4m to £5m was arriving to the club, he would help me to leave." “My understanding at this moment is that these offers are around those figures, or even bigger, [and] are not being considered, so after what Ranieri has been telling me for weeks, today he tells me that he wants me to stay." “I can’t understand the situation or why they don’t let me continue playing my football somewhere else. If I stay at the club it’s going to affect seriously my career and my future." "They know I’m not going to be used. The best thing for both parties is that they sell me to another club and I can continue playing my football somewhere else.”

Rightly or wrongly if all your colleagues had a pay rise and you didn't i could see why he was a little aggrieved. Then to be told he can leave the club twice, only to be shafted over on both occasions. If it was me I would be unhappy too, All the club needed to do was be half right with him, if he can leave let him leave, if not give him a new contract it's only fair. The blokes getting paid 10's of thousand of pounds already and was nothing more than a bit part player anyway. What's fair is he follows the terms set out in his bloody contract.
Sambiasso Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 Take the blue tinted specs off for a a minute, Even Was got a pay rise and new contract ffs and contributed even less than Ulloa. Atleast Leo contributed and imo warranted either a new contract or to be sold on to gain first team football. It's not about the money its about being fair and not lied to by your employer. If it's all about terms of contracts then Kasper and Riyad should be both made to stay and not push through moves to other clubs which they are doing.

I don't think Okazaki or Huth did either.
foxy boxing Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 Ulloa stated he wanted more game time and was unhappy being on the bench and now we hear he is in contract talks to extend his stay here!. so what exactly does he want! is he going to get guarantees about his playing time if he stays! does it mean Slimani or Okazaki might be off! i am sorry he just doesn't offer enough for the team either in goals or mobility! if we can get an upgrade then we should sell!

Not every player got a pay rise.
Sambiasso Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 Think you'll find Was did get a pay rise, and yes every player that signed a new contract got pay rises you can't argue with facts babs
Dames Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 Only reason I can see this happening is out of sentimentality or his popularity in the changing room. From a business perspective its absolutely bonkers and these are the kind of decisions that could lead to administration again - You'd have hoped the club has learned from the mistakes of the past.

Maybe he's here to be Iborra's mate in the style of Was being Kapustka's "Dad". That didn't seem to help the little cabbage too much. (I'm not for a second blaming Was). When I read the title of this thread my immediate reaction was "that's weird", I love Leo, we would never have won the league without him because you have to be in it to win it and he was important in 2015/16 as well. But it does seem slightly unusual considering he was obviously unhappy much of last season. All in all, I'm fairly indifferent to this. New contract or not, it won't be the end of the world or this club.

I'm afraid I don't quite go with that as I don't think he was lied to as such, he merely just wanted to have things his own way and to hell with the club who have been paying his contract and with whom he won a medal he wouldn't have got elsewhere. The Spanish team that came in for him, Alves, offered a paltry £1.7M allegedly. As he was being sought out for between 10 or 12M during the summer by West Brom, why should the club take such a big hit just so he could have his own way? Can't remember him offering the shortfall can you? Then there was Sunderland who offered about 6 I think. Does his tiny little brain actually think we were going to effectively give a helping hand to what was at relegation rival at that time? Had a foreign club or at least a non rival come in at a decent price then perhaps they may have done a deal, but they didn't so tough! He's done alright and got what he deserved out of the club. Clubs will always offer bigger money to their better players or the one's they really want to stay, it's the nature of the game. He's been well paid and should be grateful, we're not a charity.
inckley fox Posted 7 July 2017 Posted 7 July 2017 I don't have an endless well of sympathy for Ulloa because he didn't handle the episode at all well. In fact, it's hard to think of many examples of a Leicester player being that petulant. I agree that the lack of a new deal is probably the source of frustration. Plus, I know that footballers are over-paid and spoilt, and that we shouldn't shed a tear for anyone who's on £30,000 a week. But the sad fact is that we're all paying supporters of a business which tends to pay those sorts of wages. It's all relative. And footballers will feel many of the same frustrations we feel in our professions, whether you get paid a grand a month, ten grand a month or ten grand a day. I get paid more than truck drivers, but that doesn't mean I moan less, work harder or sit idly by when there's a pay rise in the pipeline. We allowed some players to end up on vastly over-inflated wages while others were left out. King got a new deal, Ulloa didn't. Mahrez ended up putting in half-assed displays on a reported £100,000, Ulloa sat on the bench (reportedly) earning less than half of that. Whether we like it or not, that sort of thing is always likely to cause problems. But I'm not sure we're right to be focusing on money as much as we are. As far as I can recall, his complaints were (i) That the club told him that he should stay because they weren't going to buy a new striker, which they then went on to do. (ii) That he'd been led to believe that he could leave for a specific amount, and when that amount was offered the club reneged. (iii) That, at his age, the priority is playing time - and if he can't get it at Leicester, he'd prefer to leave. As regards (i), none of us could possibly know whether Ulloa's version of events is right. If that conversation did take place, then whoever made those assurances to Ulloa is clearly to blame. As for (ii), again, we don't know whether Ulloa is telling the truth about the promise. I'd hope he could see why we turned down an offer from Sunderland, but there may have been other offers. In Ulloa's defence, this 'gentleman's agreement' isn't the only peculiar promise referred to by wantaway players in recent times. So we can't discount the possibility that someone has said something they shouldn't have. And with regard to (iii), I think this is a reasonable concern for a player of his age. He did well for us - top scorer one year, scorer of some of the most important goals in our history the next - and he decided that, if he's not a priority at Leicester anymore, he'd prefer a new challenge. His public hissy fit, on the contrary, was not acceptable. But, without wanting to go too far down the road of likening his profession to any other, we've all thrown hissy fits - about money, broken promises, ambitions, whatever. Thankfully a moment of behaving like a spoilt brat doesn't mean you're a lousy worker. It just means you're a spoilt brat.
Nugent Posted 11 July 2017 Posted 11 July 2017 https://twitter.com/robdorsettsky/status/884680479714283520 Looks like this is actually happening... confused to say the least. Surely this means we're looking to offload Slimani?

Surely this means we're looking to offload Slimani? We'd have to be, we don't need Vardy, Okazaki, Iheanacho, Slimani, Musa and Ulloa so someone or two are leaving. If it's Slimani, I don't understand it for footballing reasons. He's a better striker than Ulloa and for his faults makes stuff happen. Can only be for the good of the group if he's not fitting in well. Vardy and Albrighton going nuts at him at the end of last season was very telling.

lcfcsnow Posted 12 July 2017 Posted 12 July 2017 He's obviously just staying to keep Iborra happy. I think he was partly signed in the first place to convince Cambiasso to join.
broughtonblue Posted 12 July 2017 Posted 12 July 2017 As I posted on here weeks ago, will be a two year contract

brucey Posted 12 July 2017 Posted 12 July 2017 He's still got a year left on his current contract anyway hasn't he? So a new 2 year contract is essentially a 1 year extension on slightly better pay?
