What happened to doing as you say following the talk from Top, Vic and Shakey about getting into Europe again? So we get Deeney, Ulloa stays and so does Slimani. If Vardy breaks his leg we will be getting relegated ffs.
lgfualol Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 This is purely on sentiment surely? Bloke has scored some valuable goals for us no doubt but he is 31, painfully slow already and just pretty average. Not to mention the January tantrum and potential for more tantrums if the club don't play him every week. Cash in while we can.
cc_star Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Delusions of grandeur from some on here, yes we should sell But we missed our opportunity as Champions & in the Champions League to sign next-level players, so realistically we're signing players who would move to a club who be happy with achieving 50pts in the PL
Dan Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 I really hope this all ends up piecing together, but if we come out of this window with Deeney, Ulloa and Slimani then something isn't quite right.
Brooksy Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Love the bloke but we need to stop being sentimental. Get rid if theres interest and look for a better replacement (not Deeney)
49er Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Oh dear, worrying signs. We are obviously trying to avoid one of our assets going to a rival against whom we will be competing - Brighton, Swansea, Huddersfield. Relegation battle here we come.
Old Fox Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 How is this worrying? He has been great value since joining and last season looked superb preseason but clearly CR decided to play Slim and Musa in front of him. Having watched all of the preseason he should have been starting or on the bench in front of those pair. Clearly got frustrated and was promised certain freedom to move if not wanted which CR went back on......Shakey sees a player who actually is a great character, couple of good years in him, an option as a target (better attitude than Slim - fact!!!!!) and also buys into the team ethic if wanted. Clear that other players will be leaving or moved on - i understand that Shakey only wants players who get the team and want to play for LCFC.....and one player at least will be moved on be it loaned or sold to a Portuguese club. If Leo wants to play a squad role for me every time I would take him over Musa and Slimani

We are not selling him, because he can still be effective for us, albeit off the bench. We won't sign two strikers so one of Slimani/Ulloa/Musa have to stay for strength in depth. In all honesty Slimani/Musa don't fit in here and need to go before we can start phasing Okazaki/Ulloa out. Okazaki & Ulloa as back up to Vardy & hopefully Iheanacho will be fine for one more season.

We should only be recruiting players who can and want to improve us as a team. We employ people to recruit players of this type not wankers that are over the hill / have to be on the downgrade simply because of their age.

So that means we've got Ulloa, Slimani, Okazaki, Musa and Deeney as 5 of our 6 strikers. That's terrible. Some of these need to be moved on because we're not going to have 7 strikers in the squad. If we're keeping all the ones we've got it means we're not looking to bring another one (not counting Deeney) in. So it is worrying, because if we don't bring in a better striker than those mentioned in this post we will be relying on Vardy to score a hatful because the others certainly can't provide the goals we need.
Lovejoy Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Ffs. Played well for 6 games at the start of 14/15 and 9 games at the end of that season. Most notable thing he's done since is go on strike. Bin.
Kitchandro Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 It's also worrying in the long term because quite clearly our tactics in the transfer market are to purchase and keep hold of very limited players. Shakey talks about not aiming too low but that is precisely what we're doing if we're trying to keep hold of Ulloa and trying to buy Deeney. That says the club wants mediocrity, because we are building a medicore squad. I dread to think what sort of football we'll be playing in the next few years. What happened to pace and entertainment?

This. Younger players with scope to improve is a must, to not even progress, just to stand still as a group. We seem to be collecting players on, or soon to be on the ****ing downgrade!

We haven't had pace and entertainment since we won the league. Last season's football was shocking, just the same ball looking for Vardy. So predictable.

jock2612 Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 What a joke !! Hope this does not indicate no new strikers ??
