Ulloa in contract talks?

I see why we would want to keep him and I'm glad.  The guy has quietly gone about his business and never given less than 100% on the pitch, aside from January's ill-advised agent scripted out-burst, the guy really hasn't done anything wrong.  He is great in the air and provides a genuine goal threat if we need to switch tactics.  He isn't a starter anymore, that is clear, but as a squad player, someone who is happy to have 10-15 minutes here or there who else would you have?  Would Slimani really be happy with that role?  I don't think so.  Once his best mate Mahrez goes, I get the impression that Slim won't be far behind him.

Deeney and Iheanacho (Musa and Okazaki too) are different types of players.  Leo brings us options.

Leo holds the ball up and plays well outside the box. If he wants to stay accepting he is perhaps not a starter then we keep him. If he wants to go so he starts then so be it. I hope he stays

Like Leo hope he stays with us still keep slim though get rid of musa. At least we can rotate if we need to. Do we nerd to sign another striker.

Better not be, after what happened earlier in the Season he can **** off, unless he comes out and publicly apologies.

Would love to see what we'll be spending on wages for players that are 30+

If we get relegated we'd be in serious financial trouble (before someone jumps down my throat this is a serious possibility - see first 2/3 of last season).

The board are making some very very strange decisions at the moment - it's very worrying.

We should be looking into investing into youth and building an exciting future, not pouring 100s of thousands a week into players over 30 as well as big transfer fees.

I think Leo's issue was with Claudio.

Either way it was obviously orchestrated by his greedy agent.

Point still stands bud, him and or his agent handled the situation like *****!

I think he's probably well liked around the place and being able to speak Spanish means he'll be useful with Iborra.

Saying that, he was advised very badly and probably regrets the whole thing.

So we treat Leo as a god.

Meanwhile, Kramaric was played out of position, sold, and is now rumoured to be getting interest from Spurs and Liverpool.

It's a balls up of a striker situation and many of us saw it coming 12/18 months ago.

Jesus ! If we're genuinely going to go with Vardy, Okazaki, Ulloa& Deeney as our 4 'striking' options next season, I'm lumping on relegation !

Nah man you forgot the main boy Slim.

More than happy for Leo to stay, why replace a decent striker who can score goals with us?!

Not to mention he scored VITAL goals in the title winning campaign, the last minute goal vs Norwich, the pen vs West Ham - we never score those sort of deadline pens normally (Dickovs missed pen vs Man City at home in '03 probably was the moment that sent us down) then the two goals the next week against Swansea with Vards suspended. That's 7 points right there from his direct contributions when he was nothing more than being called in from a backup spot with the side.

Despite the fact he handed in a transfer request once - i also have never questioned his attitude and commitment for us, it's obvious now Ranieri didn't rate him - but I suspect highly Shakey does.

You can tell he's a humble, nice guy who compliments the rest of the dressing room - Brighton still love him to this day.

If it ain't broke don't fix it - come on Leo :scarf:

the issue with Leo as I see it was he was promised a move and then we went back on it - cant blame him for having the hump. If he wants to be here as a squad player then I'd be glad of that

I'm not convinced Shakey rates him, I get the feeling this is an 'apology' of sorts from the owners for overlooking him when dishing out the post-title win rewards...

Ulloa, when valued and in the right frame of mind, is an asset and well capable of getting goals for us if given the game time.  Also fits with the strong and experienced trend we seem to be favouring.

You'd think it would be the norm in every club but it seems to me that to "Work hard and compete" is going to be the first requirement for anyone expecting to play in our first team - or even, perhaps, at any level under the current management.

Ulloa does that. He always gives his best and always gets chances given any sort of service.  He's big, strong and hard to mark.

I don't say "silky skills" will be outlawed but I do think less combative players might struggle - just like Kramaric - if they don't show sufficient attitude when we lose the ball and a greater understanding of the "team" ethos.

I just hope we don't end up with a team of oldies who all start wearing out at the same time. There needs to be balance. We need to retain youth, pace and energy too - and people with the skills necessary to find gaps in good defences. A team needs to evolve not to exist for a couple of years and then need replacing en masse,

Yes, I see we're investing in youth, but I'm still not convinced we're bringing enough through to be genuine first team choices. It still seems a major shortcoming to me. .

I read the comments before looking at the title and assumed the thread was called "Leicester Owners Sell All Of Their Players for £50 Each Whilst Simultaneously Buying Burton Albion's Entire Squad And Punching Small Children In The face".

Ulloa, as a back up, is pretty much good enough for any team in the league.  If he is happy to stay as back up I am happy for him and for us and would rely on him to do what is expected of a 4th choice striker.  Yes he may not have handled things well last season but I got the impression he was genuinely hurt and felt he had been lied to.  If that is sorted and he wants to stay (as every other action apart from that would suggest) it seems a good move to me.  People make me smile, demanding apologies and calling him names, folk really are funny.  All of us moan about our jobs, all of us make mistakes yet we don't allow it from others.  Humans are odd little creatures who often see the world as they chose to rather than as it is.

As I said, happy for Leo to stay as a back up and please, name me a 4th choice striker better than him in this league, even at the top teams?

Rumble.

I like Ulloa, he's scored some important goals for us and was part of a magical season.

But for gods sake we need to show some ambition. If Vardy gets injured or misfires like last season, we haven't got a quality replacement. We couldn't rely on Ulloa to score goals and create chances week in week out.

I really do hope that this renewal isn't because we've failed with our Ihaenacho bid or other targets. We've got depth already in the striker area, it's just that it isn't depth with quality.

Yeah the thing people seem to be overlooking in the whole 'oh what a lovely man' stuff is that he's mostly crap at football.

Kramaric is class but those would be terrible moves for him. He'll just get benched again there. He needs a team who need another striker.

It was never about playing, it was always about him not getting his juicy new contract like everyone else. His agent virtually admitted as much if you read between the lines of his statements.

We shouldn't easily forget someone basically saying they will go on strike because of money.

Tbf wasn't he the only player not to get a renewed contract? Rightly or wrongly if all your colleagues had a pay rise and you didn't i could see why he was a little aggrieved. Then to be told he can leave the club twice, only to be shafted over on both occasions.

If it was me I would be unhappy too, All the club needed to do was be half right with him, if he can leave let him leave, if not give him a new contract it's only fair.
