davieG Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Quote Leicester City have reportedly opened talks with Leonardo Ulloa over extending his contract at the King Power Stadium. Ulloa joined Leicester in 2014 from Brighton and Hove Albion and was a crucial part of the squad during the title-winning 2015/16 Premier League campaign, making 29 league appearances and scoring six goals. The Argentine fell down the pecking order last season under then-manager Claudio Ranieri and the striker was involved in a bitter dispute in the January transfer window, demanding a move away. An exit never came about for the 30-year-old but the sacking of the Italian tactician, and the appointment of Craig Shakespeare, saw the target man get himself back into senior plans. The Foxes have now reportedly started discussions with Ulloa, who has only a year left on his current deal, about signing a new contract as the club look to secure his future. However, recent reports claiming the one-time Premier League champions have had a £20million bid for Watford captain Troy Deeney rejected will come as real cause for concern. Shinji Okazaki and Jamie Vardy are already ahead of Ulloa in the pecking order and the addition of another striker would further limit his playing time at the King Power. Quote Leicester City have held initial talks over a possible new contract for Leonardo Ulloa to raise the prospect of the Argentine striker extending his stay at the King Power Stadium. Ulloa has one year left on current terms and was expected to leave Leicester this summer after threatening to go on strike during the January window. But circumstances altered when Craig Shakespeare replaced Claudio Ranieri and the new Leicester manager values the 30-year-old highly and wishes to secure his future. Ulloa was incensed when Ranieri refused to sanction a transfer away in January and went public with his anger when the club rejected a bid from Sunderland worth £7.5million. It appeared his days at Leicester were numbered but exploratory conversations about fresh terms have recently been held. All options are said to remain open, with a departure still possible, but the landscape now is very different to six months ago. Ulloa, who contributed a significant role in winning the Premier League and is a popular member of the squad, has reported back for pre-season training this week. Babylon Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 If true... I really have no idea what's going on with our squad building.
AKCJ Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 I might be being dramatic but I think he'd heal a lot of 'wounds' if he came out and apologised for demanding a transfer on deadline day with only 3 other strikers in the club.
Foxhateram Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Prefer Ulloa to Deeney. Leo has scored some really important goals for us. Still a vital addition to the squad I think.
Tielemans63 Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Guy refuses to play for the club after not getting a transfer. Never plays anyway because he's not really good enough. Club offer him a new contract. Go figure. There's some seriously strange decisions coming from the top brass recently.
Ric Flair Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 I am deeply concerned about the direction this club is taking, it smacks of ineptness.
General Smuts Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 This is Nathan Dyer's new 4 year contract at Swansea territory for utter shambles.
car1os Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Are we sure this isn't an agent trying to get a better deal for him should he go, doing the whole "oh they might keep him after all..." trick?
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Not sure what to think, is Slimani leaving? Back up to Deeney?
TheUltimateWinner Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 I literally have no idea what's happening with Ulloa he went from never playing for us again to playing for us in one of our most important matches ever, to starting against palace to then again disappearing off the face of the earth at the very end of the season

HankMarvin Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Pass why woukd he be happy with the speculation of more strikers coming in, when he wasn't before.
Nick Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Well if true - I thought he signed some sort of an extension or improved contract last season after the debacle... After all if he's good enough to get 75K a week somewhere else and play every game he deserves that to sit on our bench as 5th substitute here. If we are giving him a new deal then I would imagine Slimani will be leaving. If true I hope we are in for Deeney and Ich.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Some right knobs on ere. Love me some leo never lets us down imo unlike a certain Algerian lump ohh his name his Leonardooo
foxes21 Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 We will still sign a striker, to start alongside Vardy. Ulloa is still an effective player off the bench and will allow us to switch to 3-4-1-2 if we need to. One of Slimani/Ulloa was always going to leave, looks like its Slimani.

Kitchandro Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 wut If we're getting rid of Slimani and Musa maybe but even then I'm not sure.
st albans fox Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Probably a years extension (possibly two) with a wage increase which gives him some security if no sale is possible and us a larger fee if we do decide to sell him. If he waits until end next season then he will be 31. How long a contract will he get then on a free ?? no doubt the club would want to move him on this summer if he won't sign an extension. Interesting one.
CosbehFox Posted 5 July 2017 Posted 5 July 2017 Love Leo - but a bit baffling this from a strategic point of view. Unless we think a new deal means we can get a larger transfer fee.
