6 years and not a sniff of the first team, seemed to give the ball away a lot against luton may as well have sold him

Perfect final loan move for him, a club which should be pushing the top end of that L1 table - if he can get himself into that starting 11 and have a good year then he's still got a chance. Wish him all the best, good luck Callum!

Hope he goes well for sure but starting to think his time here has come and gone..if you still aren't close to the first team side at 22.. will be 23 when he returns.. it might be best for him and the club if he moves on. 

Obviously I'd prefer he takes League 1 by storm and earns himself a new deal here but we shall see.

Is dropping a player down a league the season after his last loan not just completely indicative of someone who should have been released in the summer, to let him play for a club at that level permanently? Surely youth loans are all about progression at least staying at the same level.

Elder was doing well for Brentford played the first few games of last season before a couple of big injuries.

Hopefully he can continue his recovery in a team he should play week in week out. 

Lets see how he goes this season before getting on his back to much.

We're not too hot on the whole youth progression thing here at Leicester are we?

Lets be honest, this is just about us trying to get him as good a job in professional football as possible and maybe - if we're lucky - pocketting a few hundred grand for him along the way if it goes well.

 

At 22, we're well aware he's never going to break in to our first team unless we fall through the leagues.

Anyone know how he's getting on at Wigan on the whole? Seemed ok in the Man City game.

I thought he (like the rest of the wigan defence) was outstanding in that game. He looked really composed on the ball too. At 23 though he's unlikely to want to come back here and be 3rd choice left back.

Think we'll sign a left-back in the summer. Chilwell and Fuchs have both been very inconsistent.

I think we can be confident that Claude will be monitoring Elder's progress carefully and if he's good enough, will be in our squad for preseason training.Fuchs wonderful career swansong with us must be nearly at an end and we've already seen Chilwell being used on the left of midfield , so it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility for them both to play - although I think it unlikely.
