CosbehFox Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 Agree with Davie's sentiment. Have them at turnstile or similar point
foxy boxing Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 I love em. Yes they are an easy way to generate a lot of noise and supporters of other clubs hate em and say the noise is artificial but who cares. Carry on happy clappers!
Voll Blau Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 Funny how I never seem to hear this awesome atmosphere they create when we're losing, by the way...

Yeah, when we're two nil down at home to some dross relegation fodder all you can hear is the joyous sound of SK1 filling every corner of the ground with 'Leicester Boys Are We' at ten thousand decibels because they're such better fans than everyone else.

The more annoying the better IMO, as it gives us a better home advantage. Our players will be accustomed to the noise and can tune it out/learn to enjoy it, while the visiting players will be irked by it and maybe can't concentrate or communicate as effectively. Small margins...

Clearly that's what I'm saying isn't it? The point I'm making is it's what's happening on the pitch that drives most of our crowd to make a noise, not having a piece of cardboard on your seat. I think most would still make that noise if they didn't - they might even be encouraged to lift their voices every now and then as a way of contributing to the atmosphere when they feel like doing so. Right now there just isn't that incentive. 1 hour ago, brucey said: The more annoying the better IMO, as it gives us a better home advantage. Funny how different people interpret atmospheres differently. Ever since they introduced the clappers I've noticed more of a siege mentality when we go 1-0 down. I generally find that we're louder than the away fans more often than not after conceding. We're ****ing brilliant at backing the side when they go down in a game. Much prefer that than some clubs that whinge like mad the moment someone plays it back to the keeper.
dynamark Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 30p a pop was quoted no question you only use them if you want to . Remember we spent more on clappers than Riyad

Generally when we concede it goes quiet for about 7/8 seconds then a big roar of "COME ON LADS" and chants get going. Proud of the fact that we don't just jump straight onto the backs of our players when we go 1-0 down.

It's something we've had by and large since we got promoted. I feel that was the catalyst?

I've said it before, as have countless others that don't sit in parts of the ground where singing is commonplace, and I'll say it countless more times as well - the clappers get people making noise that wouldn't normally. They also make it louder in a quiet section which, in my experience, gets more people singing and shouting than normally would in a quiet section also. You ignore or doubt this testimony every single time myself, AKCJ, or anyone else with a season ticket in non-singing sections explains it to you and you push on with your own sheltered narrative based on life with your friends who like to stand and sing. It's just not a reflection of reality at all.

There was a lot of time spent in the months between October and February where we went 1-0 down during home games and then that was it. We as fans gave up. I agree that it was good at the start when we got promoted but after the clappers got dished out I think everyone thought "I need to do my bit".
willie-bell-in-rothley Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 Got to be kept on, they get people involved who would normally sit and do nothing also visiting fans dont like us having them, if it gets up their nose then it fine with me
LCFC FOX Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 Anyone who voted yes to them being there next season deserves there season ticket ripping up. About as useful as a pedal powered wheel chair

About as useful as a pedal powered wheel chair Our ground is silent as fvck. Prior to the clappers, the best atmosphere I recall was when the ground was first opened. Between 2004 and 2008 it was shit. The seasons with clappers it has improved. Even Neville said our ground was "rocking" once and that's because of the clappers, not because 5000 people decide to use their hands instead. I don't like clappers but I cannot deny they get people involved and if that's what it takes then so be it. Who gives a fvck if an opposition fan thinks we're "tinpot". I don't get why it bothers people so much, it's probably the same people that moan when people leave a game early.

It would also give the club a clue to how popular they are. Never used mine but wouldn't want to deprive others from having them. Bang on !
Soup Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 Honestly worth getting rid of them just to make the football nerds cry.
Drew Peacock Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 If you wouldn't usually join in with adding to the atmosphere, for whatever reason, use them. If you don't like them don't. Simple. I personally don't like them and there is nothing cringier than seeing two fat women on the front row, banging them in unison, like they are at a 1970s easy listening concert. Painful.

Fair enough, when I was in the East stand it was deathly quiet when we went 1 down, but that was years ago when we were generally shite
Lovejoy Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 There are so many people around me, even in SK2, who only contribute to the atmosphere because of the clappers. I don't use them myself, but they unquestionably make an impact.
Dan Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 Time to go for me. Made the point in other threads but I feel they actually prevent some atmosphere as much as supplement. You don't get songs going, one gets started, the clappers join in, song becomes speeding up clappers. I will admit they have had their uses and initially there was a boom in atmosphere, but I think that's died down and now you've got primarily their negatives. Get rid.
oohaahmustafa Posted 1 August 2017 Posted 1 August 2017 Please get rid. The sound is up there with Vuvuzellas in the list on terrible football related sounds.
