Iheanacho/Vardy = Heskey/Collymore

Watching Iheanacho link with Vardy for a few minutes on Friday put me in mind of the Sunderland match years ago when I first saw Heskey and Collymore link up for the first time. The excitement was the same, the feeling that this was the start of something great for Leicester.

After the Sunderland match Heskey left for Liverpool and Collymore broke his leg. We had nothing but 'what might have been'. On Friday Iheanacho went of with an injury after 15 minutes.

Maybe the high wasn't as high and, hopefully the low won't be as low and this partnership will go on for a few years.

Could be the start of a brilliant strike-partnership from what I saw. Iheanacho has already proved a fair bit in the cameos he's had at Man City and I'm sure he'll be incredibly eager to establish himself with us. It's sad that a buy-back clause looms, because, if for instance he bags 20+ goals in a couple of years time, Man City will have themselves a bargain. Modern football...

He has to want to go to them even if they do activate it.... we can only hope that by that time they are crap again or we are able to offer him a contract he cant turn down...

2 forwards with good movement, Mahrez pass to Iheanacho was pure filth, I'm not sure others would've picked out the run & then been able to angle & weight the ball so perfectly

We'll probably end up selling Mahrez to a top 6 side... thereby preventing our chances to become that top 6 side

The squad without Mahrez should just about be okay to secure the top half that Top says he's aiming for

Had exactly the same thought......I thought that match was the best it was ever going get for a City fan.  The title winning season blew it out of the water of course, but yes, I think if we could keep Marhrez, the three of them would be a dream team.

Yes, I absolutely thought that as well, what could have been. I had a similar feeling when I saw the trio Vardy, Marhez and Iheanacho. When all fit, what a potential nightmare for defences, Marhez in such a situation,  as some people have suggested, might get a bit less attention as you can't mark all three of them! On a spooky note I told my son that Nacho would come on in the second half and get injured such is our luck. No more premonitions or predictions for me unless it's that Marhez stays, works hard and enjoys his football again!

Can we not start with comparisons. We haven't even played a competitive game yet.

Dare to dream!

I'd like to see teams triple-up on Mahrez like last season when there's 2 forwards with good movement ahead of him

Yeah, lets just talk about the weather then.

This is what this forum is for.

Makes more sense than comparing players that haven't even played for us yet.

Heskey and Collymore were (would have been) the best strike force in the premier league, if Vardy and Nacho get anywhere near as good we'll be in for a superb season.

Read my mind, really hope they're played together, although do remember thinking the same thing with Slim and Vards.

Collymore and Le Tissier 2 players that really should have played more for England. How any manager would not take Le Tissier to a major tournament with his and our history of penalties is one of football's great mysteries.

Don't think I've ever been as excited by a new signing as Collymore after that hat trick. It really seemed like the missing piece of the jig saw. What could have been......

Ihaenacho could/should be a great signing for us. It may take him a bit of time though as his lack of games in pre season mean he will have some catching up to do match fitness wise. But he's clearly a very , very good player. With bags of potential.
