Atmospheric re-entry disaster on my tenth spaceflight.

It means I'll have gone into space (multiple times) which will top anything else I could ever do in my life, it'll be (reasonably) quick and I'm sure there will be some news about it.

I suppose there's no better way to go out in a blaze of glory.

Not for Vladimir Komarov however - who made it through. If you're not familiar with it, look up the Soyuz 1 tragedy. American intelligence picked up on his last words as the stricken capsule plummeted to the ground - cursing the Russian space programme and those that had killed him. The series of failures which started in orbit and the sense of powerlessness must have been terrifying. Before he died screaming in rage he said goodbye to his wife...

The astronauts claimed by the the Columbia disaster on the other hand which happened during reentry would have known nothing about it.

I suspect that I'll die in my sleep...possibly not peacefully though, my dreams are far too intense for that. Had one the other night about plunging to earth in a malfunctioning Soviet space capsule.

Don't be silly, Webbo.

Re-education is all that you need. :D

Once the kids are grown up and settled it'll be an overdose of some description for me.

I've got no intention of getting old...

Well, I suppose two out of three isn't bad...

What, you're going to be bored to death by one of Thracian's diatribes?

Depends if he returns from his lengthy ban or not :D

I would hope that I'd have ensured my family are financially secure, that I have made an impact (however small) on poverty for many people around the world, and then I can slip away in my sleep. When I go, I don't want a fuss. A cheap cardboard box that will burn easily. And then everyone to remember the good times.

Getting mauled by a tiger in Africa is out of the question then?

Definitely. Tigers are from South America. I'll probably get syphalis from a wombat though.

Should have said lion. But wombat would be a gruesome mauling

Yeah, I'm familiar with Komarov, he definitely had a hard time before the end - almost managed to make it through despite the odds, too...right up to the point the parachutes didn't open. That capsule was a rushed-together deathtrap, due to Sergei Korolev's death and subsequent lack of good management (Komarov knew it, and took the flight to protect Gagarin). Was a miracle and a product of his training that he managed to get that far.

But yeah, in case I need to be specific - quick, critical failure as I'm coming in, please. Either that or smothered to death by the ample chest of some female descendant of Christina Hendricks when I'm past my 100th birthday.

Simples, time to go somehow when i can't physically or mentally do what i want anymore - whatever age that might be, i really don't want to live for like 100 years if im ****ed up for 40 or so of those years, prefer to have less years and better fun in those years

As for the actual end, one final party and sleepy time

Always fancied a bit of good old-fashioned guillotine action me, continental type that I am.

Could turn it into a halloween to remember for the neighbour's kids too.
