Following on from some comments in the lunch at work thread, does anybody have any recommendations for decent cob shops or vans. My personal favourite is the van in b and q car park on Abbey lane. Bacon and sausage on a French stick is beaut.

Used to go in Browns virtually every day in the late Eighties when working in the Crescent , King Street.

Must be the great cob shop survivor. There used to be a chain of Leicester cob shops where the bakery

was on Troon Way ... they went bust and for the life of me can't remember their name ... did nice cobs

and the average age of the employee seemed to be about 75.

Walkers Cob Shop in Thurmaston.

Where is this in relation to Troon Way? I've not long started working there and have been looking for a good place.

Been using Vicky's Van on the industrial estate which is pretty good in fairness.

It's nice being back in Leicester and paying £1.80 for a Sausage and Bacon cob instead of a fiver.

Has been for a couple of years now.

Now moved to Melton Road.

Is the sign still up? I drive by there regularly and never noticed.

Don't have a clue.

Don't go up that way often to notice.

Yup the sign is still up. But got a big "we've moved" sign on the window.

A shame such a nice little shop area has been unused for so long, but honestly not sure what could go there.

I think you mean Coombs, they had shops all over Leicester.

The best cobs I've had are from The Rainbow Tree Cafe in Whetstone, always fresh

cobs and salad.

Lived in thurmaston all my life and not once been there

You get a lot of ham/salad for your money and the cobs are proper crusty, I like the Milner's in Blaby/Wigston but always a little more expensive for less food. The breakfast bap at Walkers is spot on. You just know how to eat it! :)
