Leicester were not very known before the title win, so the expectation were surely lower. And the quality of football was surely inferior. Obviously the PL is just another level Correct but I believe Gray and Chillwell are good enough to start at home or maybe away against the weaker opposition with Albrighton and Fuchs on the bench
Dickov22 Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 Whilst he was at fault for not playing Mahrez in yesterday, I thought we looked much better once he was on. He's a player who can get us into the opposition's half and box; something we struggled with yesterday until his introduction. The lad is going to be a star. I just hope it's with us.
foxinsocks Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 after Thursday we should start him and bench mahrez for a few games... we should tell him to mix it up or he will be dropped. see what happens

Its not like gray is better or anything.
HighPeakFox Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 Apparently he well gets the arse when people can't spell his name properly...

Wymsey Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 As mentioned, thought his attitude was fine yesterday. Energetic, fancied it and tried to help out. Just the usual poor decision-making had let him down. Reckon if the backroom staff think a certain player is venting their frustrations in not playing etc via social media, they would ban squad members in using them - to enable them to fully focus on improving themselves.
brucey Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 I think part of the reason of Riyad's improvement in form is that he's been told he will be allowed to play the full 90 if he puts in a shift. He looked extremely pissed off every time he was substituted for Gray in the last 20 mins end of last season. Gray coming on for Albrighton instead keeps Riyad happy and on form, which is better for the team. Benching Riyad at this point would be disastrous.
MC Prussian Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 I've said this in the match thread. Demarai Gray is a good player and can potentially become a very good one. All he's got to do is figure out when to make the game all about himself and when he needs to put a shift in for the team. As of right now, he still comes across as being too selfish and too greedy too often. He's shown what he's capable of in the cup game against Sheffield United, but he won't get that much freedom in the Premier League on a regular basis. He's thus required to act more team-oriented, an aspect of his game which is still underdeveloped.

He couldn't work it out himself? I know footballers are notortiously thick but come on! He wants to thank himself lucky he was only got subbed last year, he shouldn't have even been starting! I dont think not subbing Riyad is keeping him happy and on form, what keeping him on form is the fact he knows he needs to play well to keep him relative, talked about and gain interest from clubs - playing for a move basically, i'm not gonna slag him off for that because i'd rather he played well for us than play like he did last season/it helps us out. I must say though he is looking happier now, for whatever reason that is fair play to him - if only he'd realised this last season the came out his stupid statements thinking clubs would be flocking around him, did he really not understand or realise how poor he'd been? Tbf to Riyad it's clear he wants a move but I think alot of this shitstorms thats been caused by him is due to being ill advised by his agent.

stevebrock Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 Gray needs coaching is he being coached ? This is the mangers job to coach this out of him - yes ? Since he's been here he hasn't improved - yes I know he needs game tine but there's a reason he's second choice yes he shines in cup games but I think he would be totally lost for 90 mins in a PL game Also are you not allowed to voice your opinion on here anymore without being told to go &'support someone else ??????

Maybe you should keep up with the times - check your Oxford dictionary and then maybe you'll agree Gray (or should that be Grey?) is a damn useful player too. Grammar nazis who don't know that English has evolved since the 1800's really are embarrassing.

From what I gather, he has been part of a high level footballing set up for at least 10 years and he is now 21. In that time, i'm sure there has been plenty of opportunity to "learn" and be "taught" the requirements of playing a team game. He's clearly been kicking footballs for the majority of his formative years and yet, he still runs head down with his aim of a speculative shot being the outcome. It comes off from time to time and his attacking style is pleasing to see but on occasion, he must lift his head. That to me is the result of years of someone having tried to change his style but not being successful. Let's be honest, if he was adaptable at 18, then Leicester City Football Club would have got nowhere this kid and Birmingham would have gotten 15 million for him. It is alright saying he is young but at 21 and having played football for probably 15 years at least, the chances of him being moulded into something else are going to be pretty slim. Jeff Schlupp was part of a Premiership / top end Championship set up for a long time and he couldn't be taught/trained out of being a sprinter to being a bit of both.

I'm sure I am pretty embarrassing, my kids would agree but I would have at least used the preferred English spelling of a word if I was being a pedant regarding spelling. I appreciate I am probably much older than lots on here and Education formats may have changed since my time in school but using a Z in words where an S should sit is just wrong in my eyes.

Your eyes clearly are the problem. You do have an antiquated view of "English" but it's great to hear that your children (isn't kids and American word?) can spell properly and I'm sure they do when they're texting.
