Gray is amazing

At least he ran directly at them. Mahrez was our only attacking threat today - he was the only one willing to get the ball down and run at them.

Gray's two shots were poor and he played a nice ball in for Mahrez.

Thought he was okay.

The reality is we became more threatening when he came on. His decision making is poor but he's 21. Sometimes you gotta allow players to evolve. Pogba's decision making was wank today, had about 100 shots from everywhere and was greedy.

Gray was okay today. Not great but not terrible. Some people just have it in for him..

I'm not Gray's biggest fan by any means but we there has been signs in the last week that he has quite a bit to offer.

Granted we lost out in defence but he looked menacing when he came on today. He went for some ridiculous attempts but the last 5 days have been encouraging. Most of his teammates struggled when they were gray's age no doubt.

He's got a few games coming up to prove his worth should he stay. He wants games but could be a potential impact sub at the very least.

A lot of the problems raised on here with him are just a result of him not playing. Attitude, he wants to play and believes he's good enough to. Poor decision making, probably a large part of that is because he feels in the limited time he gets on the pitch he has to do something spectacular to get a start. He's a flair player and exciting to watch when he's running at players. If his end product improves he will be a top, top, player.

I like gray he runs at defenders and they hate that.

I would keep him, unless he thinks he deserves more than the bench for me. Then, to hell with him!

Made a lot of mistakes today. Many chances were ruined. If he wasn't so selfish the ball (for no good reason) we would've maybe gone out out with a more honorable result and at least scored one goal.

Gray and Mahrez were both equally disappointing today. Both obviously have the talent to cause problems but both also have the knack of trying to score all the while rather than pass it to teammates in the middle.

Several good chances wasted by both of them.

21 or not he's got to play Mahrez in at 0-0. "Bad decision making" isn't an excuse when your average pub player skills have made that pass before he did.

Mahrez made the same mistakes today though. Golden boys or not, they are both too greedy and it cost us today.

Yeh I know it's hard for people to accept criticism of their favourites but he had the ball in great positions to square it several times and opted to shoot from a couple of difficult angles instead. These are facts.

I except that, I would be biased if I said that he was the man of the match, he was our third best player after harry and Kasper, he would've gotten a goal or two if shinji and gray passed it (for shinji's case) or squared it better. But saying that gray preformed as good as mahrez is weird, knowing that people on social media are raving about riyad and how he skinned blind. (That's not my "biased opinion" but the opinion of outsiders)

He is talented but immature. He may have dominated until now, but this is the top league in the country and he needs to learn that it's a team game. Even CR7 passes occasionally and if he does shoot, he at least hits the target!

If Gray focused more crossing and bringing in his team mates, like he did for Slim, he would but such a better player, and get more opportunities

Nobody thinks he's shit but there are legitimate concerns about aspects of his game

This is a simple post from Wookie. But sometimes 'simple' is the best.

I've liked this with the new feature but that's irrelevant.

I want to declare in writing that I like this post × a million

Quality player.

Needs a run of games, funny how people will excuse Slimani needing a run of game but they're quick to slag Gray off, we had the opportunity to give him a run of games last season but no we carried on watching 10 men last year (Or may aswell have).

What is the saying? "What goes around comes around" or something like that?

It isn't really fun defending a player that a lot of people criticize because you believe in their ability, is it?  And be carful before you get called a "fanboy"

But I will play along!

1-slim was injured

2-slim was in a new league

3-the team was struggling but he still managed to score some important goals

5-slim wasn't shooting from 40 yards out

5- he never demanded a starting place...etc

The problem with Gray is that if he is as good as he THINKS he is, he would be directing and weighting that pass to Mahrez when in the clear perfectly.

He can't nail a simple through ball.

He needs to focus on improving or he's gonna be playing for West Ham/Stoke/West Brom all his career.

Or us...

I think the biggest issue with Gray is that if he's gonna start demanding to be played (if the reports are true) then he needs to come up with the goods. He was good tonight until his end product and decision making.

That is his achilles heel, the decision making. What 'experts' say improves with experience.

Compare to Rashford who struggles with end product but pretty good decision making.

May not have made the right decisions, but at least when he came on, we looked like we might have a chance at scoring. Made us more threatening.

We definitely did. We also conceded twice after he came on. I hope Gray does improve, but it's clear both he and us fans need to be patient.

Made himself look a clown for me. Terrible decision making and the one perfect opportunity he had to slot Riyad in showed his lack of composure and awareness. He's quick, direct and skilful. But he's miles away from ready for our first 11

I think he is strong, skillfull, and more likely to fit another system than our other wingers that are less flexible. I think he came on yesterday and got United back pedalling more than anyone else ( what does Shinji give us on the ball?) . He was one of only 3 players that looked comfortable with the ball at his feet, Mahrez and Maguire being the others. He slightly delayed and over hit the pass to play Mahrez in but he got us in that position.

Yes he has a youthful cockiness that is annoying when he moans and needs to get his head up more but we need to play him now and shake things up a bit because we are so poor in keeping possession and need more footballers in the team.

It's not as if these are difficult decisions he's getting wrong; time and time again he'll hold onto the ball for no other reason than he wants the ball.

Exactly. And it's every time.
