Gray is amazing

He's got his strengths but overall he's toilet. If we've legit got a 30m offer on the table id start the car. Can't see him improving that much and he seems a bit of a prat.

Wasn't impressed with Gray today. He wasn't horrible but he didnt give any impact which we really needed. Tbh i am not sure if there was anyone on the bench that we could have brought on that would have got us the win.

Shakeys subs were ok, he didnt have that much option. Was nice to see he brought on Slim on and gave him a chance ( to put him in the shop window or to make him feel wanted - i dont know)

I personally think that Gray may have something to give to us in TIME but atm he isnt a starter right now.

Just could not believe the delay in the pass to a screaming Mahrez who, given the right ball (very easily) would have been through on goal. We'd have scored that in the title winning season. The pass would have come from Kante and would have been made much sooner.

Few times today he could have used his brain more effectively. That pass that needed to go in to Mahrez who was in ACRES of space but went in too late and too far was criminally poor.

And the 3 shots he scuffed where perhaps passes could have been made was also so frustrating.

His attitude is disgusting as well. Thinks he should start but then does that kind of stuff today. No doubt he'll push for a move til end of August though. I like him and want him to stay but he has to be patient and realise there are two much better wingers in front of him.

The problem with Gray is that if he is as good as he THINKS he is, he would be directing and weighting that pass to Mahrez when in the clear perfectly.

He can't nail a simple through ball.

He needs to focus on improving or he's gonna be playing for West Ham/Stoke/West Brom all his career.

Are we comparing the kid with Mahrez ?

He's never gonna be as good as him but it's going to take a run in the team to truly assess him

Until then I'll hold on to my judgement and hope he can progress here rather than somewhere else.

Gotta grow up and realise this is a team game or he's wasting everyone's time. Got the talent but very little else.

Can't believe all the shit Gray is getting on here!  The whole first team didnt create anything for the whole game and he had a part in the move that gave us what would have been a clear cut chance if, yes, he had released the ball earlier. A mistake, so what.

If he had started instead of Albrighton we may well have created more throughout the game. First prem game time and against a Man United that were all over us and he gave us something. He could give us a lot more. If a new manager came in who knew his stuff and really shuffled the pack i bet Gray would be a lot closer to the top of it than he is now

I think the biggest issue with Gray is that if he's gonna start demanding to be played (if the reports are true) then he needs to come up with the goods. He was good tonight until his end product and decision making.

You sure about that? As you say yourself, we like wingers to cut in.

Yep.

Ah a simple Yep. You must be Craig Shakespeare such is the confidence in that response - particularly after you'd contradicted your own argument when you stated we like wingers who cut inside. Anyway, IMO, if Riyad stays, Gray has a far better chance of ousting Albrighton as Mahrez is undoubtedly our most talented and creative player.

I think the difference (well not only one) but is when to be greedy and when to pass.. Nothing wrong with greedy play, its the awareness and decision making that defines the player.

We never really know how positive a player's attitude is. We hazard a guess based on what they do on the pitch, what they say in the press, on social media, what their body language is like. It's rare that we get more information than that. So I can understand why people would question Gray. And even if those newspaper headlines are speculative, you can understand why journalists might ask those questions too. He does seem to feel hard done by, as if he should be playing. That's not necessarily a negative, but if he crosses the line and creates a fuss without backing it up in his performances, then that's a problem.

Personally I think he faces a choice. He's at a club which has already delivered him a league winner's medal. He's being kept out of the side by two very good players. Do you knuckle down, learn from them, learn from your errors and prove why it is that you should be ahead of them? Or do you go to another big, or bigger club where you'll have to overcome the same problem? Or even a smaller club which will give you game time but has more modest ambitions? I think a player with the mentality to become as good a player as, perhaps, Gray already feels he is, tries to prove his worth.

That said, we could have alleviated our problems by giving him more game time at the end of last season, after survival was confirmed. By perhaps putting an arm round him and telling him how big a role he can play this year. By setting clear deadlines in terms of when players can and can't express a wish to move on, and still expect the club to honour their wishes. And, of course, I don't see why we'd blame him for what happened today. He made a couple of poor decisions, but looked reasonably lively, and on balance had very little responsibility for the result.

Quality player.

Needs a run of games, funny how people will excuse Slimani needing a run of game but they're quick to slag Gray off, we had the opportunity to give him a run of games last season but no we carried on watching 10 men last year (Or may aswell have).

Such an exciting prospect.

No wonder he's pissed off, watching shite last season from the bench, not being given chances and seeing what Redmond is doing at Southampton.

I make a bold claim when I say he has the potential to be as good as Mahrez if not better but I honestly believe it.
