Change is good ... this club is strong

All this panic and moaning about people leaving is a little silly , change is good , it's time to freshen things up, people should be allowed leave to follow their dreams if those dreams lie outside our boundaries.

Give thanks for their magnificent service and appreciate the success we all shared but above all wish them well in the future, bitterness and anger only clouds the beautiful memories we have all created in this special time at our football club

Can't be bothered with 50 pages of whiney bollox in the transfer forum. Have we sold anyone yet?

I just find it odd that people seem surprised our best players want (and probably are) leaving.

Leicester (whether we like it or not) will always sell our best players because they'll always want to leave.

We're a mid size club and the lure of playing for prestigious clubs who will compete in the CL will always make us a selling club.

It doesn't mean we can't replace them with good players, we certainly don't lack funds, but we will remain a stepping stone of a club just like 99% of clubs in the world.

Maybe these fans are younger and don't realise where we've been for the vast majority of our history.

I'm glad clubs are interested in our players, if they weren't we'd probably not be doing very well.

Agree with this post. I'm sure Spurs fans were gutted when Bale, Modric, Kranjcar etc left, but they rebuilt properly and are hitting new heights. No player is bigger than the club.

The problem is our whole management structure appears incompetent at achieving this. They'd rather turn a blind eye and hope no-one wants our best assets and not forwardly plan for a future without them.

The way things are looking the club is either going to stagnate or go backwards. A big shake up behind the scenes is well needed and very overdue.

I don't begrudge some of the players for wanting to leave - That's football but the way the club appear to be going about it is a joke.

Change is good as long as the club is able to sustain itself after these players leave and the club can bring in decent replacements. We need to routinely bring in players that want to play for us and perform at a decent level to keep revolving and evolving. A club that stands still is as good as going backwards.

While I honestly think that losing Steve Walsh and the recruitment team and allowing a man with about as much gusto as Rodney Trotter to 'direct our football' is probably biggest verruca on our club, all in all, I feel like if we can bring in Silva and Chambers, we've had a decent window. Iheanacho is a signing that states genuine ambition. Iborra has an incredible CV so to have a player of his calibre with us will be a big plus in the long run. I am incredibly disappointed that they haven't dealt with the players who clearly want to leave the club in a more efficient manner, as it has now become a real case of panic at the disco. Roll on 11pm!

The amount of people who come on here saying things like "done deal" or "he's leaving" like they're some kind of ITK but are actually just guessing can do one. Perhaps they should change the club they support.

The priority for me is to have a squad of fully committed players.  That means whingers or sulkers, so anyone who wants to leave (Mahrez, DD, Mendy)  should go and lets get on with getting new players in,

Why would they want to change clubs?

That's the one.

We had our chance to properly strengthen and we completely blew it.

I was hoping Iheanacho, Maguire and Iborra may have convinced Mahrez to want to stick around and help us build but I think all those months of shite (that he contributed to) have made him realise we won't be a top 4 club for a long while.

But the club isn't strong. It's in a strong position, but it's not strong. The personnel behind the scenes aren't astute enough to keep improving the team and adapting to new situations. We've seemingly made no preparations for Mahrez leaving, no reaction to Kante leaving, and if Drinkwater goes as well it will highlight just how poor we are in central midfield.

Our recruitment is poor and the squad isn't recovering from the better players leaving. We're just accepting it. So not like Tottenham at all, when they sold players they had a long term plan in place so it wasn't a massive problem. We are just getting steadily worse and regression is inevitable over the next few years. Management are not intelligent enough to see the issues in the squad and not proactive enough to address them in good time.

Just hoping we get a 10th wind and hit a bit of form this season and squeeze into the top 8 so we have another lifeline to attract the players we need to build.

We didn't.... And that's the problem. We lose Drinkwater and/or Mahrez and I know we won't replace them with equal or better players.

For goodness sake stop panicking.

The club has spent about three times as much as in its entire history and we appear to have kept our best players.

Talk of always being mid-sized, and a selling club, having blown it by not recruiting that well last year and in decline are ludicrous over reactions.

People are either hopelessly pessimistic or over-dramatic.

Yes they have, but yet they are not anywhere near as good as the players that we bought 4/5 years ago when we were in the championship.

That's the worrying thing, we've spent a hell of a lot of money and yet they aren't anywhere near good enough for the first team.

People might get fed fed up of hearing it but you worry without Walsh & Pearson of the direction and kind of players we are now singing.

Last summer was a complete write off we wasted almost £80 million pounds. January was ok with getting Ndidi in.

This summer I would say is ok'ish Maguire looks superb (though Pearson & Walsh had identified him years ago) Iheanacho has great potential, Iborra not seen anything of him and Jakupovic can't get in ahead of our 3rd choice keeper last season.

Spot on. Of course change isn't always good or 'for the better.'

To say it always is, is just being deluded. If we had 'changed' by signing clearly better players, thus strengthening the existing squad both for now and the future, then fine. That 'change' would have been for the better. The changes that we made to the squad from the summer of 2016 on...some of them have made us better, but some absolutely havent.

It's not change per se that matters, it's how you change that is the issue. Simply to say it's always a good thing, is frankly, a bizarre thing to say.

Slimani and Musa were linked to us ever since promotion to the premier league, so pretty safe to say they were on Walsh and maybe Pearson's wish list, possibly the same with Mendy as he was first choice ahead of Kante, who was a Walsh find.

Not sure whats happening with Jakupovic, he was very good for Hull and played preseason so makes you wonder if something has happened behind the scenes, but i think this summers signings, including quite a few youngsters into the U23's is far better than last Summers shambles.

I'm glad Kante left last summer as it gave us a chance to bring Mendy in.

Change brought Kante

change won us the league
