It really is VERY strange that we haven't appealed. We must be extremely uncertain of our case. On the face of it, I would say we'd have a good case - so there must be compelling reasons why we've done nothing for nearly 2 weeks. All I can assume, is we're worried about having an even harsher judgement made against us - though I can't imagine what could be worse than paying £80k a week and giving £25m or so to Portugal, for a player who sits in the stands for 4 months !

I've been doing some research about about FIFA's TMS system to try to work out what could have happened. Looks like the system would a reported an issue straight away i.e. just after the deadline. Technicians for the TMS system would have been available to contact, to discuss the issue. If it can't be resolved during that conversation then the issue is forwarded to another department in FIFA, where the circumstances are investigated thoroughly and a decision is made. The fact that it took three working days before we had a response from FIFA suggests that it went through that process, and I suspect that if they could have found a convenient way to let the transfer through then they would have found it then. Maybe there's not much room for an appeal because I fear the conclusion is clear, which is that our submission was late. What they could be focusing on is arguing that if the relevant authorities (The FA, FIFA) can allow a transfer to be completed (before the deadline), then surely the international clearance should be allowed to follow regardless (when the alternative is that the player will be left in limbo).

This is a very good point. If the transfer was agreed BEFORE the deadline and this can be proven with timed and printed documentation proving terms were agreed before the 2 hour extension had expired, then surely the paper work is secondary and common sense will prevail? FIFA should be looking at finding ways to nod this through. The player is for sure 100% innocent, so whack us with a fine and give them Rudkin's Visa card details
sylofox Posted 12 September 2017 Posted 12 September 2017 I've been told the club has two or three options to take but only have one chance. The club know if we get this wrong it's tough untill January. Also been told all meetings on this matter are strictly need to know. They don't want leaks that could screw up our appeal.

So to recap you are saying that you know that we have some options and we could pick one and that only people who work high up in the club know what the options are and which one they might pick?

Sounds totally plausible to me. When we do launch an appeal we can't suddenly change the grounds if we don't like the direction things are heading.

So to recap the incompetents who messed it up first time are certain to mess it up again so are keeping quiet about it.

So they don't want leaks about this but what you are quoting above is leaked information? I think the likely outcome will be that it's tough until January!

baldeagle Posted 12 September 2017 Posted 12 September 2017 Some of the guess work in this thread is amazing

Knowing a meeting has been had about a subject and knowing what's said are two different things. While your trying to take the piss id be worried if they had not had meetings. But hey your the clever one.

moose6913 Posted 12 September 2017 Posted 12 September 2017 Good updates. Any idea of a timescale for the appeal process?

moose6913 Posted 12 September 2017 Posted 12 September 2017 Yeah, we can all hope! Fingers crossed the silence from the club means that they are confident of a resolution.....................
