It's early days but Drinkwater could become one of Chelsea's worst ever buys.

He won't oust Kante and Bakayoko out the team. Fabregas is also competing for the same position and maybe Loftus-Cheek overtakes him next season and a club like Chelsea are always looking for top class/ world class players and perhaps buy one in that position within a year.

Also his "injury" will be a huge concern. He played all last season but never quite got it fixed. Maybe he can only play at 95% of his normal capabilities from now on and if that's the case he'll soon be looking for a new club when Chelsea want to offload.

Surely if we had any kind of a real case the issues would have been ironed out by now...

Seriously disappointing - not holding out much hope now.

Have to agree. I think he was a panic buy for Chelsea and will only manage to get a handful of starts/cup games etc.

This will continue for as long as he can stick it out - Fabian Delph comes to mind.

Do I blame him for backing himself and taking a chance on a big move? Not at all, and hope he can prove me wrong and really push his way into the starting 11. I just can't see that happening personally.

More likely, Kante, Bakayoko and Fabregas will all be ahead of him for the next 6-12months, then Chelsea will go out and spend big on another CM or two that will also be ahead of him.

He will most likely move on after couple of seasons with no real game time and join the likes of Scott Parker, Sidwell etc..

We are scuppered ffs.

Deal with it.

Think you're right. The only way I can see of us 'dealing with it' is by changing our formation. I think we're going to need three in midfield from here on in.

The main victim of this saga is the player, to a lessor extent the clubs. His career will be seriously damaged if he's not being able to play and his opportunity to be selected for his world cup squad will be gone, maybe for ever. Let common sense prevail.

Burger, King and Wimpy suggested on another thread to add beef.

Sad it's not progressed yet, but glad he's at least allowed to keep his fitness up. Good show from our side, as he doesn't deserve to be isolated.

He's going to oust Kante, Fabregas and Bakayoko? Do me a favour.

He'll be the new Scott Parker.

He's got more talent in his gluteus maximus than Scott Parker has ever had.

Utter nonsense

Chelsea need a deeper squad, he'll play his part in that squad

The most tackles by an English midfielder since 2015, the most final 1/3rd passes by an English midfielder since 2015 & a telepathic & perfectly complementary partnership with Kante

Fabregas may be unhappy with being benched more often than not & may want to leave.

Chelsea also want to change the identity of their club & Drinkwater fits that bill perfectly

Exactly what I think

If we had a case that we thought had a good chance of winning, we would have wrapped it up & submitted it by now.

The fact we haven't even contacted the FA yet is extremely worrying & would /suggest/ our case is weak

I know nothing, so refuse to speculate either way. I recommend this position to anyone who wishes to be less annoyed.

Wise words Peaky ...    I will sit beside you, if I may, on that tall horse of yours, and together we will watch as those below scamper hither and thither in their frantic search for further information that, at present, does simply not exist.

Speculation ! ...    The malady of the common man !

Have we given sporting any money?

We've flicked ourselves by selling a key player but not replacing him and sporting have lost a key player but have no money to finance a replacement.

Oh well, every day with **** all update that goes by is another day closer to January.

And closer to relegation:blush:

Not sure to be honest. Chelsea only signed him to make up their home grown numbers, of this I'm fairly certain so I wouldn't be surprised if he just didn't get picked.

If he isn't injured and as a £35 Million Pound signing isn't making his debut or even on the bench against a team of that low quality you have to ask yourself as a footballer - Am I going to get much of a look in this season?

I'm sure I heard he'd picked up an ankle injury

I am furious with this common sense post. It is my right as a Fox to be furiously annoyed at all times, and not let facts get in the way.

I'd take the Scott Parker that signed for Chelsea over the DD who signed for Chelsea all day long.
