I'm quite pleased that Kylie made the Christmas number 1 above Mariah Carey (can't bear her voice or her songs) and Wham.

TBH I'm pretty fed up with same old regurgitated and repeated Christmas songs that get churned out over and over every year on every mainstream radio and supermarket "radio" channel.

Supermarket or any shop Christmas music is for me reason to avoid or hurry to get out rather than linger and spend more.

Christmas decorations that obstruct letterboxes should be punishable by death.

Especially those big bows that go across the door & are so tight you can't lift the letterbox.

Probably placed by the same people who at Halloween put the 'danger do not enter ' banners over the entire door ensuring the letterbox is completely unaccessible & whose pumpkins are still rotting by the doorstep now.

I had this same opinion when chatting to a colleague. He labelled me 'Ebenezer' for being grumpy over the same old Christmas playlist.

My view is that there are literally 100s, probably 1000s of Christmas songs/records, yet the supermarkets and radio stations play the same 15 or 20 songs, year in year out.

Does my head in.

Imagine what it's like if you work in one such supermarket.

When I worked in the Air Ambulance charity shop, Christmas cards went on sale at the end of September and the Christmas music started at the end of October and they weren't even recognised songs, just some drivel made by session musicians and singers. Played on a loop for 9 hours.

It was dreadful.

How do posties get on with these separate letter receptacles that on the wall or outside the gate of gated houses when the opening seems too small to take a large letter or one that says "do not bend".

We are supposed to ring the bell, if there is one. If nobody answers put a card through saying we will try again the following day.

Either that or just throw it over the gate 😄

As a former owner of one of those, I can confirm they just ram in whatever it is.

Now you might get a nice postie who doesn't but Postman Pat, our former postie wasn't one of those.

I think a lot of people asked him if he had a cat called Jess and it made him very grumpy.

Oh, if you want a grumpy postman I guarantee that repeated Postman Pat references will work.

That git gets a helicopter to do special deliveries in. Still waiting for my training.

If ever i were in the hell situation of being jobless and homeless I would commit a serious crime so i get put inside and suddenly id have shelter, meals, clothes, shower:ph34r:

routine...

obviously no freedom but what kind of freedom is jobless and homeless?

I'm guessing i'd get more help finding work as an ex con than being a straight arrow who had fallen upon hard times.

Sadly, people actually do this.

Given that our posties name was actually Pat, he probably should've considered a different career choice.

Here's another one that's happened to me already this morning.

Special deliveries to businesses that have closed on Christmas Eve and not told you.

Had similar when I worked in retail during uni breaks. The same handful of songs on loop all day every day. Then people wondered why my like of Christmas decreased

I worked in pubs every Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day from 2009-2014. Constant Christmas music was about the only thing keeping me sane

Fireworks are the most pointless and irritating thing in the world.

Why do people insist on letting them off every bloody hour from 18:00 onward on New Years Eve ….

I can’t imagine being a dog (or person) that is sensitive to them.

This could equally belong in the ****s of out time topic I guess.

Reckon the you should have the right to vote revoked if, like dozens of pricks within earshot of me, you set one off as soon as Big Ben starts chiming - rather than waiting for it to chime midnight.

I am pretty sure the first Big Ben bong is the hour, not the 12th one, and not the stuff before it.

Yeah the first bong is the hour but there's some dings and dongs before that first bong.  It's a bit of a count down I suppose...  Ding ding dong, dong dong ding, ding dong, ding dong [dramatic pause] BONG.

It's the BONG that should signal fireworks, not the dings or dongs.

An early contender for post of the year.

I wager there has never in the history of mankind, been a couple of sentences with so much campanology going on.

Made me laugh. :appl:
