La Manga - Inside Story

Recommended Posts

Interesting read and I'll probably buy the book. Micky is such a great guy and it's sad that he feels like he's remembered more for La Manga. Not for me. He did an excellent job for us and I've always wished him nothing but the best at all his subsequent jobs.

Millionaires? Back then.

Shame if it's true that it affected his management career.

Comes across as bitterness and a way to make a pay check by selling out the trust you had with players. Sure Matt Elliot will be well impressed.

Oh and Mickey the reason why you didnt get another premier league job is because you are not a premier league manager. Wolves away any one?

DNA evidence proved none of them had sexual contact with the women.

were any false stories retracted by the papers at the time after this was concluded?

Why is the paper using its own accusational headlines from back then, in a story where they repeatedly say the claims were proven false?!

Remember singing She said no Dickov, she said no to Paul Dickov in Markfield Londis lol Looking back not my proudest moment.

Coincidentally, my Father sold his house in Markfield to him - he made quite a few interior building alterations that apparently took ages to complete. Though, looks the same layout now as when it was sold to him.

Had this alleged bar incident hadn't happened, things, in terms of morale and teamwork, would've been much better.

I certainly don't blame for this and quite sad still he was indirectly involved in it by liars.

Did he have one of the houses on countryman way...leicester used to own some...a few of them drank in the coach and horses

Interesting theory of Adams that the whole thing was instigated by the hotel as means of publicity, not really buying that, but certainly wouldnt put it beyond some of our gutter press to be the instigators...

Well that'll sell the book.

Need I say more.............. ???

Gone way down the list now for me

Bet the guys love the idea this is in the papers 13 years after "nothing" happened

Wasn't Keith Gillespie pretty much bankrupt from gambling?

Yup. I happened to be watching the Football League Show (or whatever it's called now) the other week and Colin Murray asked Keith Gillespie about how much money he would have on x, y or z to happen at least 2/3 times. So awkward.

Clearly the allegations had a huge influence on the team and staff etc, but we were hardly in great form on the pitch prior to that if I remember correctly. Think we won away for the first time all season in the resulting game afterwards.

I have to agree with this.

Not really sure how this could possibly have affected his career. He wasn't accused and the players were found innocent. He was probably knocked back because he wasn't good enough but they didn't want to hurt his feelings lol

Not sure if true or not, but I was told when we signed Keith he was told he was too skinny and needed to beef out, was advised to drink guiness and ended up with a bit of a drink problem too...
