Since Fuchs eye injury Chilly has performed very well and held his place vs Liverpool even with Fuchs fit. Are we seeing a changing of the guard and is this the right time or should Fuchs come back in?

Hopefully not, chilwell isn't ready, to defensively naive, but needs to get games to improve, but not every game.

I personally think he's perfect in the wing back role, with 3 at the back, and he'd have cover

He needs to be sent out on loan. Defensively he is no where near ready..... face up and tracking he is okay, however ask him to defend anything in the air and he is no better than Schlupp.... position ally he is inexperienced and that shows badly. Fuchs is a master st dovetailing players and acting almost as a sweeper at times... he’s far superior to Ben at this stage, in fact he is a hell of a lot better than people give him credit for.

like any adventuring full back he leaves himself open at times but he is rarely at fault for goals.

I’m in two minds about Ben, defensively he should have it already, it should be instinctual and at this stage it isn’t... he needs to be playing week in week out.

Fuchs all the way for me.

Fuchs end product going forward is better than Chilwell's as well as general defending. What Chilwell is very good at though is running with the ball  at ease from defence to attack and it does help us, I wish we'd utilise it a bit more.

I've no idea why Chilwell is ahead of Fuchs. Maybe we are phasing Fuchs out as he probably plans to retire soon but we need results now and he is just better than Chilwell.

Fuchs has been injured? I don't recall Chilwell ever being ahead of Fuchs bar him getting dropped for a few games under Ranieri last season.

Fuchs for me. He's an all round better defender but Chilwell does have a lot of potential.

My issue with Chilwell is that he is typical of a lot of young defenders in the modern game whereby they can't actually defend but are good going forward. Perhaps I am doing him a bit of a disservice but he seems to have lapses in concentration far too often and he's caught out positionally too. That's not to say that over time he can't improve but the position we are in currently, we need to be winning games and perhaps shouldn't risk him.

Doubt it, Fuchs' contract runs out in 2 years.

I think Shakespeare played Chilwell again as we kept a clean sheet in the cup.. I don't think Chilwell should play every game, but in home games against teams like Palace, then he should.

A lot of goals we concede come through Fuchs too.

He isn't as solid as he was that first season.

Disagree with this. It’s usually Simpson’s side we concede from as Mahrez doesn’t help.

Fuchs makes the odd mistake but be is 1 million times a better defender than Chilwell. And he certainly doesn’t cost us many goals at all. We concede more through Ben when he is playing.

Fuchs is a myth. He started to go off the boil towards the end of the title season and really isn't a very good defender. Chilwell get's hammered on here everytime he blinks his eyes too early yet Fuchs gets away with dreadful positioning, the worst timing of headers I can remember and stupid lunges. Out with the old and in with the new for me. Otherwise we'll lose an excellent prospect because we're sticking with a has-been. To those saying Chilwell should have done it by now, how on earth can a young player come to fruition by only playing a handful of games a season?

Hahaha I hope you’ve enjoyed your spliff this morning... Ben is shit at defending... period, Fuchs is much better.... his positioning is his strongest attribute he rarely allows anyone in behind our back four at all.... he also tucks in beautifully when Maguire ****s off on his travels to support Morgan. He plays a duel fullback/sweeper role and does it very well.

Also Ben’s crossing is sometimes suspect, Fuchs brilliant, his all round final product is excellent... there’s better full backs out there than Chilwell, and to be brutally honest I don’t see him sticking to that position, potentially a left winger perhaps... when Fuchs calls it a day I’ll expect to see us sign a better player.

however your assessment of Fuchs is hilarious, at this time he is miles better than Chilwell, I’d advise watching the football with your eyes open in future.

#nofuchsgiven Throw-Off Challenge?

I'm a bit sad the planned one with Hernandez never came to fruition

Fuchs by some distance.

Chilwell is a poor defender who is regularly the wrong side of his man and consequently

he has to hold or pull and he gets squared up too easily.

His crosses don't carry the threat of a whipped in Fuchs cross.

on the plus side ,he has a excellent touch, great energy,he's young and will improve.

Spliff was spot on thanks pal. But Fuchs is still past it. Chilwell is far from the finished article, but you're ignoring what's in front of you if you think Fuchs is that great, even with the wannabe fullback Albrighton helping him out all game.

Fuchs by some distance, Chilwell seems to be at fault for a goal in almost every game he plays.

In a 4 man defense Fuchs by quite some margin. If we were to play 3 at the back Chilwell. He seems more of a wing back at the moment more wing than back. Makings of a great player though if he improves defensively

Simpson has Mahrez in front but still defends better than Fuchs, but that’s not the comparison here.

Our left side is weak. Even with Albrighton ahead of Fuchs we always look more threatened there.

Im not saying Chilwell is better than Fuchs, but for someone to develop they need to be played. Chilwell won’t get any better not playing. Then when Fuchs comes to leave Chilwell will be thrown in with limited experience.

Fuchs is obviously the more rounded player and I think he should get the nod against the better teams. For the sake of Chillwell's development though, they need to be sharing games out at least equally.

Hopefully he fills out a bit in the next year or two, I think his lack of a physical presense makes him an easy target, especially when dealing with a big winger. As he adapts to the pace of the game and movement of top level players, his awareness and ability to deal with different situations will improve.

He looks incredibly comfortable on the ball and seems pretty switched on about what he wants to do with it. He made a great block against Liverpool in the cup which showed good awareness of a dangerous situation.

It'd be interesting to see him playing for a football team.
