Laurie Whitwell is well informed, there’s definitely something in this rumour now with Ben Arfa.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5112717/Leicester-consider-PSG-outcast-Hatem-Ben-Arfa.html

Personally I’d take the risk, it would be a loan initially and Puel had him playing to peak levels at Nice (17 Goals & 6 Assists from 33 league games). Downside is he’s 31 in March, but his favoured position is as a CAM.

With two of Iborra/Ndidi/Silva protecting in a 4231, the potential of Vardy, Gray, Mahrez and Ben Arfa on attacks could be devastating against the non big 6 teams (against the big teams it would be too risky to be so expansive).

This is all but done I reckon.

Yeh i agree with this. And against the top teams we can add in an extra centre mid and take out one of Gray, Mahrez or Ben Arfa depending on form/fitness as Ben arfa can also play wide if needed.

I actually know him through a friend. He's personally not well informed but he spends a lot of time with Percy etc.

This doesn’t surprise me, he was brilliant under Puel with Nice, I welcome this signing. With silva and Ben Arfa we really will have some team

I'm not sure I'd be that keen on him joining us. Could end up a bit of a Collymore.

The squad seems to work well together. He might just upset things.

Puel don't strike me as the sort of manager to bring in a total dick. I would also think after the time they where together Puel will know what his attitude is like.

The likelihood of Hatem Ben Arfa bringing his rare combination of sensational skills and remarkable substitutes’-bench-based-looks-of-smouldering-discontent back to the Premier League increases with every passing day, with the Frenchman not so much in the cold at Paris Saint-Germainas padlocked into a cryogenic chamber situated within an industrial freezer built upon the Arctic tundra in winter time. He has not been glimpsed in a football kit since his run-out against third division Avranches in the French Cup back in April and has since been – in the words of his lawyer Jean-Jacques Bertrand – “left out brutally and in a disrespectful manner” even though he “has matured a lot”, “never complains” and has a “fundamental love for the club”. It looks very much like he will be given the opportunity to develop a fundamental love for a different club in January, either on loan or on a free transfer, and according to the Mail Leicester are “considering a move” and West Ham “have been sounded out”.

So he plays on the wing or as an attacking midfielder....

Is this goodbye Mahrez?

Surely not.. gone are the days we had a rigid system and only had space for 1 mahrez type player!

Just imagine Ben Arfa and Mahrez on each flank.. who would you double up on? if we could get the balance right that would be incredible

Imagine this team as an attacking force. :nigel:

----------------Vardy--------------

Gray-------Ben Arfa--------Mahrez

----------Silva---------???----------

Chilwell--???--------???---------New RB

I'm excited by this:

----------------Vardy--------------

Gray-------Silva--------Mahrez

------Ndidi---------Iborra----------

Chilwell--Maguire--Morgan--New RB

Can't see us getting Ben Arfa unless Mahrez leaves in all honesty.

I can see Ben Arfa coming all day long. I think Puel looks at our squad and sees we're overloaded on strikers but understaffed on attacking midfielders, I think in his system we'll only ever see one up top and usually three attacking players behind. Ben Arfa was exceptional under him at Nice and he'll probably be available on a free transfer or a nominal amount.

Any reasonable offer for Slimani, Iheanacho, Musa and Ulloa will see them gone and he'll want to supplement the loss with an attacking midfielder.

That ??? is so versatile!

Would be a good signing. It'll only take an injury to Gray or Mahrez to unsettle the balance of the system with teams doubling up again on the remaining player. Introducing Ben Arfa would allow us to have the strength in depth required to maintain momentum. Ironically I actually think this signing would convince Mahrez to stay despite the fact it's direct competition to his place, as he'd probably see that we're becoming ambitious with our signings and also that we're serious about breaking into the top six in order to play regular European football.

This is how I think we will line up when Silva is available which

would mean we would need another attacking midfielder/Arfa

and another quality c.mid added to the squad.

If #BenArfa is released from his contract by the #PSG. Lokomotiv #Moscou is very interested. The player gives for the moment his preference to #Leicester!

Surely Ben Arfa turns up here in January? It's a perfect storm.

1) Probably available for free

2) We need another attacking midfielder

3) Puel knows how good he can be

4) Ben Arfa had his biggest success playing under Puel, surely he wants to replicate that?

This guy on form as well as Riyad would be lethal.

Worth a go on a free given our shitty squad depth.

I always imagined him as a replacement for Mahrez, not as well as... Mahrez, Arfa, Gray... cant see them all fitting in...

Why not?

We only have a limited amount of players who can play in those three positions. Mahrez, Gray, Albrighton and Okazaki. After that our next choice is Chilwell who is primarily a left back.

Mahrez could be off next month and I wouldn't be surprised to see Albrighton being acclimatised to being a right back starting there against Huddersfield and Fleetwood.
