Why not?

We only have a limited amount of players who can play in those three positions. Mahrez, Gray, Albrighton and Okazaki. After that our next choice is Chilwell who is primarily a left back.

Mahrez could be off next month and I wouldn't be surprised to see Albrighton being acclimatised to being a right back starting there against Huddersfield and Fleetwood.

Because Mahrez wants to leave?

You're all getting really excited about a lad who's had one good season in his career?

The French league is really really bad.

Well PSG thought he was good enough for them as a 29 year old and Puel knows him inside out.

Ben Arfa has been a monumental bellend most of his career so you think at 30 years of age he'd be chomping at the bit to play PL football for the one manager who has got a tune out of him.

In fairness this is the league that gave us Kante and Mahrez so we cant knock it  too much...

True.

Ben Arfa on a free isn't bad but I'm not getting my hopes up looking at his record.

Albrighton/New RB Morgan Maguire Chilwell

.......................Iborra....Silva

Mahrez ...............Arfa.................. Gray

............................Vardy

You don't want to Bin N'didi for Silva, N'didi is crucial to our play style as he breaks up opposition play, He'll then passes it to Iborra or Silva (who would rotate)  and they would distribute the ball.

Yes please. In a team that needs more attacking midfielders and less strikers this is worth a punt. Puel knows how to get the best out of him and it puts us in a much stronger position when it comes to selling Mahrez if that horrible scenario happens.

always thought on his day he is one of the most talented players about, don't see a problem if it is on a free and Puel can get the best out of him.

It's a pretty big if, but if Claude can put an arm round him and get him doing what he did at Nice he'll be worth the ticket price by himself, let alone if he's playing with Riyad.

Impossible not to watch videos from that season and think of what he could possibly do here, it's not like it's ages ago either.

He wants to leave, but at the condition that he gets 10 million from PSG.

Is this guy a troll?

Well it depends on how much his contract is worth.... Plus, wanting to leave and handing in a transfer request are two different things.... he'll not get such a large pay off if he hands in a transfer request as well as losing loyalty payments from the rest of his contract.... Yes he agreed to a new contract last year but so did PSG....

Surely Ben Arfa turns up here in January? It's a perfect storm.

1) Probably available for free

2) We need another attacking midfielder

3) Puel knows how good he can be

4) Ben Arfa had his biggest success playing under Puel, surely he wants to replicate that?

5.) Players in the Premier League get paid a shit load in wages.

And to those contemplating Mahrez and Ben Arfa in the same side - balance wise, that would be a nightmare.

Ben Arfa is not exactly renowned for his work rate and defensive discipline.

Mahrez is certainly better in comparison, but can leave full backs unprotected at key times as well.

If we also add in Gray, which some have, plus Vardy up top - who exactly is going to do the defensive work and you know, win us the ball back so that our creative duo can do their creative stuff?

If you’re still not convinced, i’d be interested to learn of a historic side that consistently played two defensively nieve (or uninterested) attacking creative players and was successful in doing so?

I would be irritated if we thought about an attacking midfielder before two full backs and a centre back. If Mahrez is staying there really isn't a pressing need for someone like Ben Arfa - and if Mahrez does decide to stay in the longer term, signing a 30 year old who, in both statistics and public perception isn't really close to Riyad, there's not much point.

So If Messi came rocking up to the King Power with his Uber driver, you'd tell him to go home because we havnt signed a full back/ CB yet?
