60 points i'd say, be a little disappointed with many less...

60 points equates to 10 wins and 6 losses, 9/3/4, 8/6/2 or 7/9/0. Tough ask I fear...

Sat on the fence and went for 50-54 points but think it will depend a lot on whether Mahrez stays.

Mahrez is involved in a high percentage of our chances/goals - hard to replace, even if we bought a good new creative player (I don't see Gray stepping up that quickly, unfortunately).

If Mahrez stays, Silva integrates well and we tighten up a bit defensively, I could see us getting 60+ points and finishing 7th or even 6th.

If Mahrez goes, Silva takes time to integrate and we continue to be vulnerable at set pieces and to give away too much possession, I could see us ending up with about 45 points, safe but bottom half of table.

Mahrez's recent performances and attitude have been good, so I hope he's committed to giving his all until the summer. Promising little cameo by Silva as sub on Monday.

Just hope that the defence tightens up, keeps possession better & recent injuries aren't too disruptive.

It can go either way at this point. Signs are promising, but the 'honeymoon' period is over.

How many more Crystal Palace performances are we going to get compared to the Huddersfield ones?

Absolutely, I think if we bring in a couple more footballers and shift some dead weight in January, I think we can equal and hopefully improve on the first half of the season.

Probably miles off I usually am :D

It's a big ask, but possible of course. It will be easier to predict after the transfer window though.

A tough ask, admittedly, but a reasonable "upper end" target?

Playing devil's advocate, here's W9, D4, L3, taking us to 61 points:

Wins: Watford (H), Swansea (H), Stoke (H), Bournemouth (H), WBA (A), Brighton (A), Newcastle (H), Southampton (A), West Ham (H)

Draws: Everton (A), Arsenal (H), Burnley (A), Palace (A)

Losses: Chelsea (A), Man City (A), Spurs (A)

Admittedly, I've not allowed for any unexpectedly poor results there. In reality, I'm sure that we'll have blips in a couple of those "wins". But we could also pick up a surprise result or two in the tougher matches....

Of all these matches, a win against Arsenal is what I really want.

A win away against The verminous Spuds is what I want,  what I really really want!

Would love wins against Chelsea, Arsenal and Spuds!

Looking at when the fixtures fall. Next 4 home games: Watford, Swansea, Stoke, Bournemouth. No slip ups and even with our tricky away run in that period we should be in 7th \ 8th going in to Arsenal home on 17th March.

Last 6 games of the season: Newcastle (H), Burnley (A), Southampton (H), Palace (A), West Ham (H), Spurs (A). If we've got a scent of Europe in the nostrils and a settled team could be a very exciting run in. Or if we are on the beach and some of those have something to play for could be a damp squid.

I think the balance between home and away PL form over the next 2 months will be crucial to our final position. At home we've a run of tough but winnable fixtures against Watford, Swansea, Stoke and Bournemouth, whereas away we play Chelsea, Everton and then City.

You'd expect us to pick a healthy amount of the available 12 points at home but we will realistically struggle to pick up points on the road from the next available 9. So if our home form is strong and covers our away form and/or we knick something on the road I can't see us not being in 7th position in early March (I'm banking on Burnley tailing off to some extent too).

Excited to see how we progress in the second half of the season, especially with the addition of Silva.

6th this season is wishful thinking and dependent on if any of the current top 6 falters. Most of the top 6 know how to get results against the rest of the league.

You're probably right. I'm certainly not expecting us to finish 6th. I'd be delighted with 7th place and a cup run.

I probably expect something a bit less than that and we'd need a lot of factors to go our way to get near 60 points (Mahrez staying, defence improving, Silva integrating, very few major injuries etc.).

My expectation is that we'll get low-50s in points and finish just above mid-table. It's just interesting to look at maximum and minimum expectations.

On the ultra-pessimistic side, we'd have to experience an unprecedented implosion to get relegated now.

On the ultra-optimistic side, IF those factors went our way, 60 points is not out of the question. In that case, we'd probably finish above Burnley, Everton & co, and would need just 1 of the "big 6" to have a crisis to end up 6th.

Spurs, Arsenal & Liverpool are all capable of a crisis - particularly with European football as a distraction. I'm not expecting us to finish 6th or even 7th, just wouldn't rule it out (it's good to dream! :D)

Of the top 6 I see Arsenal as the one to have the Crisis. Liverpool look on the rise and I think Spurs a steadying their ship. If Arsenal lose Sanchez it will give us a good opportunity to steal 6th if we get favorable results for the rest of the season.

the fivethirtyeight.com statheads see us finishing a comfortable eighth, right where we are, with 52 points, remaining the only club outside the top six with a positive goal diff.

  - They predict Man City will lose a couple.

  - In terms of SPI (overall statistical strength), the two “best of the rest” teams are LCFC and Palace (!), comfortably above both Burnley and Everton.

  - 12th through 17th will end up within three points of relegation, with Stoke, WBA and Swansea taking the drop.

  - St. Totteringhams Day will also go down to the wire.

55 exactly.

What I'm finding interesting is the club currently in the last relegation place (Stoke) is on 20pts. Therefore the gap between 8-18 is only 10pts.

That's unusual at this stage, isn't it ??
