And this is called a bench, most of our other African purchases like to sit on it ... oh unless it's that African cup thingy then all go on a little holiday.

2M for a ligue 2 player. Bought for the under 23 squad. We must be mental. Delusions of grandeur I think. How much for that Hunter from Fleetwood? Same age and impressed for them.

How can signing a French League 2 player be Delusions of grandeur. It’s not like we’ve put a bid in for Messi

Are people still not grasping the current market, especially when a PL club is involved? £2m is the 50 quid of 5 years ago practically.

Why has the signing not been announced yet?

The OS will probably be about a week late in revealing the news, after the others..

I know it's not "our" money but when the plug is pulled out by sky and bt only the frugal  will survive. We have £80m worth of strikers on the bench. This is not sustainable. Please be careful with our money. Administration was not long ago.

The deal must be close hes already  done the "shirt pose pic" But we do take our time getting the official paperwork over the line. The fee intrigues me, ive seen £2 million quoted and £4.5-7, so if the latter i would imagine straight into first team squad, shame he cant take part v Fleetwood nextweek as you need to have been available for original game to be eligible for replay

Are they pulling the plug? The premier league is one of the most lucrative contracts going. There's no way they're giving it up. And every other TV company would jump the chance of the gig if they do. And that money will flow to us. As long as we're not spending more than similar sized clubs we'll be fine. Although the money from the CL will have given us a temporary increase in funds comparatively.

It's a bubble and it will burst.

International clearance the most likely cause.

Only if the money sky/bt/others get from subscriptions doesn't cover the contract fee. And the prem watched leagues in pubs and homes thorought the world.

There's huge demand, so the prem can charge loads for the contract and then we get part of that. Unless all these media companies have all made speculator accounting errors I reckon the money will keep following.

It is a bubble that has got a lot more growth before it bursts. Wait and see what the overseas contract values are when they come up for renewal.  It is going to be staggering sums of money. Shame the lower leagues will see none of it making the Prem pretty much a closed shop for 30 odd teams in the future all getting fat on the riches of the Prem while others go out of business as they can't sell a prospect for decent money anymore.

God I hate modern football!!

Couldn't agree more. The bubble has barely inflated let alone come close to bursting. I mentioned previously in another thread that the revenue is virtually equivalent to that of MLB and is someway off both NBA and miles off NFL both of which are forecasting future growth and predominantly generate the majority of revenue from a single continent.

If you consider that IPTV is still in its infancy and has yet to embrace football, that Football/Soccer is massively growing in popularity in the U.S. due to concerns over head Trauma in NFL, and that Scudamore will soon have PL games kicking off seven days a week at all manner of varying times to attract overseas viewers, the potential for revenue growth is humongous, which is why every owner wants a team in the PL.

Diabate almost ready for Premier League

City’s imminent signing is “between the under-23s and the first team,” according to Claude Puel.

"A good opportunity for the future. He is between U23 and first team. He has all the attributes to play in Premier League. We will see.

"He is a young player and we will have patience with him. Attributes to become a good player." #LCFC

He said something along those lines about Iheanacho as well, who is hardly firing on all cylinders currently..

Jesus describing the lad as a likely peripheral squad figure is brutal lol #WelcomeDiabate

It isn't if he was told he will be in the U23s.  In that case it is motivational.

Not good enough for a club that's supposedly got aspirations to be a top six club. Completly underwhelmed.

Hate to bring everyone down but we're not signing Lemar this month.

Asa matter of interest, have you ever been whelmed by anything the club does?

Whenever I see your name on a thread I anticipate a negative comment and your rarely let me down.
