MC Prussian Posted 8 January 2018 Posted 8 January 2018 U23 material, Gray-like, nowhere near centre forward/striker material at the moment. More apt on the wing. Chill out, y'all. And stop with the spaffing.

Plus... we might sign another 8 defenders and 25 midfielders before the end of the window. You sure it'll be before the end of the window. Besides, we've only a month (Less than)...generally it takes us 2.5 months to process a deal/medical....and we still sign them injured. Edited 8 January 2018 by Matt

Wymsey Posted 8 January 2018 Posted 8 January 2018 There shouldn't be huge pressure on him with the relatively cheap fee.

It's exactly that, a guess. We've been linked with more bloody right backs than you can shake a stick at. Football clubs are allowed to look at more than one player at any given time. Stop moaning for the sake of it.

Long Eaton Fox Posted 9 January 2018 Posted 9 January 2018 2M for a ligue 2 player. Bought for the under 23 squad. We must be mental. Delusions of grandeur I think. How much for that Hunter from Fleetwood? Same age and impressed for them. 1

somebum Posted 9 January 2018 Posted 9 January 2018 So whats the philosophy here? Are we going for the full set because they go for more as a bundle or what?

How much for that Hunter from Fleetwood? Same age and impressed for them. I expect him to be one of the best players in our U23 squad. He's already been linked with Southampton, Watford and Wolfsburg before we bought him so that suggests he has a certain pedigree. I'm happy for us to make buys like this as it improves the development squad and I'd rather we filled out our first team squad from academy lads rather than older players who are never going to be more than squad players. More times than not you still at least get your money back on these types of players a couple of years down the line selling to a Championship team. I'd be happy to make half a dozen signings like this a year as long as there is some real thought into the signing rather than a scatter gun approach. 1
NewquayFox Posted 9 January 2018 Posted 9 January 2018 Southampton have a fantastic scouting system in recent years, anyone they are interested in is a good sign and I think this lad will be a star, already getting a bit of stick on here without kicking a ball which is poor really.... 1
dooflip Posted 9 January 2018 Posted 9 January 2018 Good luck to the lad. if it doesn’t work out it’s not a huge fee, doubt his wages are big. Good gamble really. as stated before in this thread it’s often the big names and expensive players that fail miserably.
