Grow up and get behind Riyad, or: stop listening to the press and wait and see how he reacts on the pitch

Of course somebody knows.

Not you, but several people know.

It would seem most unlikely that a player who hasn't turned up to training or matches has been told to go on holiday and if he had it certainly wouldn't have been a literal meaning - check with HPF.

Obviously somebody knows, the club and Mahrez do.

Equally obviously, I was talking about the press and people on here.

If we were willing to sell him, if the price was right, then he wouldn't have been picked for the Everton game in case Man City agreed to our price during the game.

The club may have then decided to tell him to take time off, unlikely as it may be I, you, others on here and the press have no idea.

Why do I need to check with HPF, what does he know that we don't?

The owners clearly want to keep all of this in-house until it suits them to make things public.

Think the silence could be a good thing, talks between the club, Mahrez could be progressing well in-line with the hope that he returns with confidence?

Seeing as the OP is suggesting some should ‘grow up’ and wait until Mahrez is back on the pitch..well does the OP know when this might be? Does anyone?

Are we expecting Riyad back this weekend?

Doubtful. Very.

Nobody knows and everyone is jumping to conclusions.

Indeed

But, you'd think if they'd given him leave in the middle of the season just because we turned a bid down (unheard of) the club would at least confirm this to be the case instead of letting the media rumor machine rumble on about him being AWOL, fines, is he ever coming back, etc.

I hope he isn't back for this weekend !! ...   can you imagine what it would be like !!  ...   It would be a pantomime !! ...    Nooooo !!

Back next week maybe ....   all smiley and saying 'its all sorted' so that no one loses face ...   then hopefully get back to playing like he was and everyone all kissed and made up ...     then in the summer ....    FOOK OFF FOREVER !!!     :)

Why would we give him leave?  We wouldnt turn down 50-60 mill to not play him and let him miss training

The club never seem to talk to the media until everything is concluded.

Yes I do. But would you think it fair on people who suffer from depression that a person who hasn’t got depression to claim they have depression when a situation doesn’t suit them.

This depression thing has been taken way out of context. Mahrez probably has no idea what it means, in fact he probably didn't even say it.

There's plenty of words connected to medical conditions, I take it you don't use any of them.

Because he's upset at not getting his move and the club don't want a disgruntled player training with the rest of the squad, hence giving him time off to sort his head out and rebuild bridges with the club before he returns to training?

The truth probably falls into the middle, throws a wobbly, doesn't turn up, get to the point of Man City being on the Horizon and they tell him to stay away until after the game and we all start again next week. If he then fails to turn up, then personally I think we can forget him ever playing again for us and he'll look like a total shit.

Yeah, thats not 'letting him leave'

Thats Mahrez refusing to train and the club being understanding about it rather than spouting off to the media that he's doing us wrong

The way you are describing it is as if Mahrez came in and tried to train, but kept missing the ball due to blurred vision through his veil of tears and so Top kindly put his arm around him and said 'come along Mahrez, you seem disgruntled, best také a few days off'

Sounds a wee bit deluded

We are saying the same thing, I am talking hypothetically and explaining a reason why it's a safer assumption he's not been given leave.

Are you the poster who was saying none of us know and we shouldn't be jumping to conclusions?

Your hypothesis seems less likely than ours.

I never claimed he'd come in for training, I'm assuming he didn't, the club knew he was pissed off and then contacted him to tell him not to come in. All conjecture on my part.

hence me putting a question mark at the end of it to indicate that I don't know and am wondering if that was the case.

My hypothesis may be unlikely, I'm just pointing out that none of us have a clue, it's not difficult to understand.

Okay I'll word it different - maybe not holiday or leave but it wouldn't at all surprise me if the top tier of the club's hierarchy have told him to stay away from the training ground for now.

It's only a suggestion mind. But I am less concerned about Rob Dorsett's daily 'missing training' tweet than I was before the weekend. The footballing opinion is beginning to change about Mahrez's actions and that's going to get him tarnished as 'difficult character'.

Club have not asked him to stay away and never have.

Talks are ongoing.

And you'd be wrong imo.
