Grow up and get behind Riyad, or: stop listening to the press and wait and see how he reacts on the pitch

بالتأكيد إذا أراد الله مهريز لمغادرة ليستر كان قد أقنع مان سيتي لزيادة عطاءهم؟ إما أنه لا يهمه أو أنه لا وجود له! حزين.

Just ran this through Google translate... it says that Riyad loves Leicester, he will never turn his back on the club but his agent is a Forest fan and likes to cause problems.

At least we've got to the bottom of the issue!

I'm thinking ever more that we should let him rot in the reserves until the summer. If he's going anyway, why not start building a team without him now? It'd give his replacements more game time and experience anyway. I'm one of the few of the opinion that we should have sold him. 65m plus a player is still an awful lot of money. But we didn't so we now have to consider where we go from here.

If he’s going to give 100%, we miss his creativity, and would be ruining our chances of europa league football, by not playing him,  we have nobody good enough to do his job.

Same said mate, if he’s half hearted, and unsettling the changing room, let me rot in the u23 for the next two and a half years for me.

Just find it a shame that a player who has been a massive part of some if not the best part of our history, could leave on very bad terms with the club and fans, and potentially him feeling as negative about lcfc.

You make a fair point here Col.

I've defended Mahrez to the hilt but the whole saga is wearing a bit thin on me now.

The reality is that even if he does come back and play, he's probably only got 14/15 games left with us tops before he pisses off in the summer. We're comfortably mid table and nearly at 40 points so there's little risk in us binning him off now and re-building without him.

It pains me to think of him never playing for us again but maybe it's for the best.

Normally respect your views Monsell...this is the thing that I agree with the most...very unsavoury end.

Needs to get his head right, make his apologies, get back on the pitch and leave in the summer for a proper fee. We can then all say a proper goodbye to one of the best players to ever wear the blue shirt.

That's what I'm starting to think mate. If, as everyone says, he's gone in the summer, why don't we start building our team for the future now. And then supplement it with his transfer fee in a few months time. He's burnt his bridges once too often for me and I'm still of the opinion that principles and some thought of loyalty, matter.

Big shame mate, it really is.

But we've not done this to Riyad. He's done it to himself.

'Even if he sorts his head out now and returns to the side, unless your name is @ScouseFox, it's surely going to leave a sour taste in people's mouths, even if he scores.

Thanks Pure Blood Midlander and only LCFC-worth supporter!! Thanks for the warm greetings, and the survey of my 15 posts! Your 14933 fluffly posts in here give you certainly an edge is sorting this shitey conundrum!!

Whether you like it or not LCFC is teethless whitout Riyad .. Live with it! It's not my 15 posts that affirm that .. it's the f'ing data ... 3 games without him this season in the PL .. and no win!! Nothing!! Nada!!

I am waiting for Diabate', Silva and Nacho to yet prove you correct!

You, and the so-called self declared only Leicesterians, need to get an iota of realism and face the bitter reality. LCFC without Riyad wouldn't have been Champions and will not, at least in these conditions, be able to reach for anything the 1year ago champion club would expect to dream of.

It wasn't just Mahrez though was it? The same can be said for Simpson, Albrighton, Okazaki etc. They all played their part, especially Kante. He was the main man that season for me in terms of consistency. They were all consistent, bar Mahrez. He ended up being carried by the likes of Vardy and Drinkwater for about 10 matches that season so have a word with yourself son, because you are chatting complete and utter pollution. We are fans of Leicester City, we will always put the club first and at present we are one of a few lucky clubs who have owners who feel the same. Fair play to them for putting the clubs image before money.

You do realise that Mahrez is going to have to play out of his skin FOR US in order to get somebody to bid our valuation don't you? Excellent leadership skills by our owners. Play your best Riyad or kill your dream and rot. Love it!

Not really read through some of the rubbish on here but this is my opinion. If he’s not starting or on that bench against City then all his hard work for the last few seasons is over for me. The last two games he could of been the difference and he’s letting everyone at the club down now and things will start to get nasty between players etc. If he just needed a week to get over it then l’m ok with that but anymore and that’s taking the piss out of everyone including the fans. His football will be forgotten if he keeps acting like his life is over and the fans will be telling him when he’s on the pitch. He could go from hero to zero in two weeks.

Algerians will say that Leicester were nothing without Mahrez.

The fact is though, very few Algerians had heard of him before he came to Leicester. Leicester have given them an icon, one of very few their nation has produced (even if he is Parisien). Bow down  to us, Algeria, we're bigger than you.

Dude, I think Raj is a long time supporter. Look at his post count. It appears you've mistaken him for an Algerian Mahrez fan. lol

Having met him in person I can confirm raj is  most definitely British and not Algerian. Nor could he be mistaken for Algerian.

Unlike me. Allegedly Just to lighten the mood,  as on a works away day I was wearing an Algeria shirt with Mahrez ok the back and was told by a Dutch guy “Are you Algerian, you look Algerian, you have black hair and are pale”

This is the thing, have a break, get his head back into Leicester, for now, keep your mates and agent out of the press, keep his feelings about the deal falling through to himself, or in a close circle, and he needs to remember he is still a very privileged person, earning a great living, and lifestyle for playing a game he loves.

Carry this crap on and he will be what I thought he wasn’t, a spoiled brat, and after always backing him, even through his bad patches, I’m sure I won’t be alone, but I’m done with him, and will not support a player  that has no respect for the fans and the badge, let alone his teammates

Got offered the opportunity to get a free Premier League medal, play in one of the most highly acclaimed squads in the history of the Premier League for a manager that's somehow made Raheem ****ing Sterling look world class. Imagine what he'd do with Riyad.

Forgive me a bit of shameless rep-point grandstanding but he's helped us get promoted, helped us win the league, helped us get to the quarter finals of the champions league. Just like Drinkwater, he had every right to look to progress his career and do so with our support and gratitude. That's football, folks.

All he did was request a transfer. There's been no downing of tools, no flouncing off, no refusing to play, no kicking up a fuss. He was a consummate pro after the summer, got his head down and got back to his very best.

Nothing to suggest he isn't going to do so again now.

He's probably leaving in the summer and when he does, cest la vie. Until he does, he's one of ours and he's a big part of our push to get back to our European tour. I for one can't wait to see the bright lights of Tallinn, Kharkiv, Warsaw and Tirana in the tin pot cup.

So please, stow the childish bitterness, stop buying in to the pathetic Sky Sports narrative that he's causing disruption in the squad, don't believe the melodrama and just ****ing support him and the rest of the lads.

There has been all of these things. His club has had to play two games without him. He is an amazing footballer but I lose respect for him when he lets down his club

Leicester has given nothing,it's the natural talent of Mahrez that got him in the limelight and put Leicester on the map of english football, after being relegated to championship second best for years.Leicester didn't improve on his natural abilities,on the contrary,it cashed in and realised the impossible and won a fluke title that would never happened without the decisve role that Mahrez in particular has played.

As for Mahrez being an icon, you'are mistaken greatly,he is not considered as an icon in Algeria and wouldn't even make it to the top 10 of the best algerian footballers of all time.

We gave you Mahrez and contributed greatly to the most important event of your entire history.

What Leicester gave to Algeria.......nada!

You got this the wrong way:

Leicester should bow down to Algeria,it's Algeria that's bigger than you!
