Yeh but no but....

Yes because I don’t want him going a penny less than our valuation was last week just because he’s thrown a strop. It has to be made clear to him that he will only be sold if a bid is made which meets the clubs valuation otherwise he’ll still be with us come the start of next season. That way it would be in his interest to get his backside in gear and turn up every week.

No because he obviously doesn’t want to be here and I honestly wouldn’t mind if we just paid him his £100k a week over the next two and a half years had him train with the kids and never picked him again.  This is a club about to spend £80 million on a training ground, £12.5 million spread over 30 months is whilst not exactly small change wouldn’t break the club. Let’s see what his ‘Super’ agent advises then.

His agent’s playing brinksmanship with us, he’s spread poison and bile to the point we don’t want the best player in decades here anymore.  I doubt we’ll be the club to seize some of the power back off the players but I would love it if we made a stand as a warning anyone else considering downing tools in future.

I expect him to go for less than he’s worth.

Excellent post , the question for me is how much money will we lose in the summer if he he doesn't play / play well ?

What amount would the owners be prepared to lose to make a statement ?

because it's too much of a risk. we already lost 5 points from the last 2 games because of him.

start in the summer. make diabate mahrez's understudy. let him show diabate the ropes and make him a better player.

we can't sell him now can we? so why not play him?

no one said that we should brush his behaviour under the carpet, he deserves most of the abuse coming his way.

If he apologises and gets his head down then yeh. But if he's going to cause problems in the dressing room  then no. We are better than most of the teams outside the top 6 with or without Mahrez. Obviously it's nice to have him but we can still win without him. Some people seem to think we'll never win another game without him. We Would have won yesterday if we had taken our chances. We hammered them first half and should have been 3-0 up at ht. Like I said, he can make the difference when we need it but we can still win without him. Hopefully he sorts his head out and apologises and gets back to playing but its not the end of the world if he never plays for us again. There are currently no winners. We don't have out player and hes not doing himself any favours of getting a big move in the summer with his current behaviour

If he plays with heart and skill none of us will mind but tbh I'm more than happy if he doesn't play for us again.

For those saying that him not playing will cost us points - the fact is he cost us points in the last 2 games not because of what he could have done but because of what he did. We're safe in the prem this season, and I think the best we can finish is 7th with him and 7th without him.

The more important factor is that we have a dozen games to see what Diabaté, Silva, Gray et al are capable of without Riyad. He's gone in the summer so let's not waste the beginning of next season sorting out our team. Let's do it now.

For those who think him not playing will reduce his price - it won't, he isn't going to be any better or worse a player and any team that wants him will realise that and expect to be able to bring the best out of him.

If he's going to work hard between now and the end of the season then play him, his attitude this week says he doesn't want to play for us again. If so think of it as a groin injury and let him spend some time in France/Algeria/North London/Manchester and get on with life.

There is life after Mahrez and it's bright.

We didn't hold on him to start Gray and Diabaté. Benching him reduces his value. That's crap business and it affects the dressing room. It's really easy to understand.

So unless he goes mental and decides to kill his career off by keeping on not turning up at the training, he's going to play. My guess is against ManCity with a point to prove. Don't give a damn if it's for the team or for himself as long as he's fired up.

top post, jay:thumbup: that's a sensible way to look at it. i have been saying that for days now. apologize properly and give 100% and you can get back in the team.

but i still think without him, we are not the clear cut best team outisde the top 6. taking away the team's best player will heart the club alot

Yeah he should and he will.

Gray and Diabate aren't good enough to replace him for the foreseeable future, so we'll probably sign his true replacement in the summer.

It's like having a Lambo that you're leasing that you know you're going to lose in the Summer so you keep it in the garage and instead drive a Prius.

Use the Lambo now, then when you've gotta send it back go and buy yourself an Aston Martin or something.

True but we still have the best striker outside the top 6 and one of the best centre backs. We have some very good players. But yes Mahrez did set us apart from the rest. Nobody outside the top 6 has any one near his quality

yeah i agree. but i would love our chances with riyad on the pitch. for me, he and diabate on the same team could wreak havoc

I'd love to see that too but I have a feeling it's just not ment to be.

have some faith, arty. that clown will show up again, apologizes and set the league on fire with vards and diabate!

Oh course he should play for the club again, for everyone's sake.

However, I would give away 3 points just to name Mahrez from 1 to 11 for one game, just to see how he goes on his own and maybe he will realise just how good the other 10 make him !

I wonder if it's probable the club are offering him to those that can afford him at this very moment, it's popped up in the press Arsenal interested with Utd and Spuds keeping on eye on it.

this has a smell to it. it's almost like "keep doing what you are doing, missing training didn't put teams off"
in the summer and looking at how the market is, 60 million for him would be cheap

well, so far they aren't impressing. if we won the last 2 games, it would've been a great hit to his ego. now he will just show  up for training denzel washington style lol

You mean last season? Most of the players were poor last season. I criticised Mahrez on here many times.

He said he wanted to leave in the summer, nothing happened and he's got his head down and got on with it. He's been one of our best players this season.

Perhaps he could post the stats from the year before that when he was pivotal in helping us do the impossible.

as for consistency, in the last 20 games he played, riyad managed to officially record at least a goal or an assist in 14 of them

consistency (noun)

the ability to remain the same in behaviour, attitudes, or qualities

Is it OK to be torn down the middle?

I don't think a grovelling 'apology' as such is required - just a public acknowledgement from Mahrez to the club and the fans that while he is disappointed not to have joined Man City, he will give his all to the club for as long as he is a Leicester City player.

I really want to see him play for us again but if he can't bring himself to make that statement of commitment to this club - and sooner rather than later - then I'm inclined to join the 'torch and pitchfork' brigade.

Why are you so hell-bent on assuming we would have won the last two games had Mahrez played?  Mahrez is not great when faced with a back line of 10 men!

so, all those games when teams parked the bus and he won us games, do they not matter. and yeah, we would have won. i can say that we could have won the swansea game 9 times out of 10

you can put ozil, sanchez, hazard and coutinho on that list while you at it.

You can if you want, but it isn't relevant.

I would never seek to deny his ability - on his day he is unplayable - but claiming he is consistent (which you did) is unsustainable and not supported by the facts.

i said this year, in the last 20 game. come on, mate. why are you trying to put words in my mouth. never said he was a consistent player over his time here. i said 20 games this season

You were seeking to use his ‘consistency’ to strengthen the point of the post you had made prior it.

I’m pointing out that being consistent over the last twenty games is a selective use of statistics.

but it's about this season under puel. just like the title winning season when he was consistent (even though he had a month off between jan and feb)

he is (or was) in great form and could have (key word is could and not would) won us the game
