We really should of sold him. I know it was the last day but I am sure the club would of known who they were going to go for had he gone and had the feelers out already.

Now we have a player who doesn't want to be here with a price that is just going to go down if he doesn't play.

We are dealing with a human being who is more likely to respond to an arm around the shoulders than a kick in the backside.

Yes he's done wrong but he thinks the club has too.  This situation can be resolved with understanding on both sides.  It won't be resolved with a desire to punish, however justified some may feel that would be.

Yes, it's another Mahrez thread.

Just wondering though what we all think...if he comes back into the fold, would you welcome it? We certainly miss his creativity.

Or should we be moving on now and playing players who will be here next season?

Bit torn on this one but, on balance, if his absence means that we can further develop other players and playing style during the rest of the season then my answer has to be No.

This means that, currently, there are 69 of you who I’d not trust with a pair of nail clippers or allow to go outside without a special safety hat.

Spectacularly stupid.

I don't think he will apologise. And even if he did, I don't think he'd mean it. This whole situation is just too toxic now. I don't think he'd be much use to us now anyway in his current mental state. Roll on summer, get the best price we can, and go our separate ways. And in 50 years time, if he comes back to visit, and goes out on to the pitch at HT of a game to talk to Andy King (Birch's successor), maybe I could rediscover some affection for him.

Sadly there are some of us on here that won't be around to see this! :(

His agents etc are obviously messing with his head and a bit of a power battle. Google either name and it exposes a mess

OF KAMEL JOORABCHAIN ((who did/does live with the Mahtez family)

"Mahrez's agent is an Algerian guy, who only has two other player listed on his books. One is a League 2 player (French second division), and another is a player in the Algerian leagues. And then he has Riyad Mahrez, who is this potentially 50 or 60 million pound footballer. Mahrez's move has never come, Arsenal have been linked, Liverpool have been linked, I think Roma were linked strongly, but it's never come and I wonder if that's partly because his agent doesn't know the right people to get a deal done. If Mahrez's agent was Mino Raiola would he still be at Leicester City now? I don't think so."

From the Merc December

New advisor was behind Coutinho-Barca moves in summer

He is now understood to be working with Kia Joorabchian, who is described as an advisor rather than an agent, who was said to be behind Philippe Coutinho’s attempts to join Barcelona last summer.

The agent who was trying to get his move away from City last summer, Kamel Bengougam, has recently insisted that he still represents Mahrez. Awkward.

Look at Arsenal yesterday, they played much freer without having the negative Sanchez in the team. Now we are in the same situation with Mahrez, a player who thinks that the grass is greener on the other side, surely it will effect the other players and the way they play when he in the team. Should have sold him , he does not want to be here

As I keep telling people, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Nobody was to know he'd react like this.  The club did the right thing and refused to be bullied by a bigger club. And yes he will possibly leave for cheaper in the summer but the owners have shown it's not about the money it's about the principle and respect, something Mahrez and man city are sadly lacking.

Thing is Mr Cameron, if you didn't want this result you shouldn't have given us the chance to vote!

Valid point. However dealing with someone on 100k a week who has already shown a lack of motivation after winning a title is totally different. You can chuck more money at it and he will still wantaway 6 months later.

Just maybe his actions are all part of his plan and he wins either way....

-if he moved in Jan he get the chance to play in the champions league and pick up a Premier league medal

-if he goes in the summer his transfer fee is lower and the buying club have more money to offer him in salary

We will never probably know!

If you ask me the whole transfer window system stinks. Man City bid two days before the window closed, offering a makeweight in the deal who can't even get near their team and is currently out on loan in Scotland. Most likely they were knocked back on their major target and moved on to Mahrez as their second choice. Of course the club had to refuse, because two days - or even less - is not enough for the club to find a replacement. Good on the Thais, I admire their integrity and principles. I would rather have the old system back, with the transfer deadline in March. Probably with a limit on the number of players who can be signed during the season, maybe five or so. Clubs will then have seven months to negotiate what they couldn't manage in the summer, or give clubs who have changed their manager a chance to make changes to their squad.

Mahrez is now between a rock and a hard place. If he refuses to play, he won't get his dream move in the summer because none of the biggest clubs will want him. If he does decide to come back, he will have a lot of bridges to build with the rest of the squad, who will almost certainly feel he has let the club down big time.

The Sun on Sunday reports that the PFA has offered to mediate.

Not the best source, but a reasonable idea.

No it doesn't sum it up nicely.

Yes we picked Mahrez from nowhere but was part of the team that has given us unreal memories that we will never forgot. Think of people in years gone by that have never lived the day to see this club win the top flight.

Some of you are ungrateful and don't seem to understand clubs like Manchester City are bigger than us and represent a better chance of winning silverware consistently.

Mahrez is our most creative player, of course he should be playing for us.

Literally no one has suggested that at all. No one has suggested a move to man city wouldn't increase his chance of winning silverware. But, that doesn't mean that we're a charity and should sell for derisory bids. Any transfer has to be right for all parties concerned, not just the player.

Yes

We would all be moaning if every week Townsend played and was less than stellar.

I think with hindsight now some people are of the opinion we should have sold, but i think we'd regret it hugely if we let him go at that time for that price. We'd have said the owners rolled over for a big club

If he plays with heart and skill none of us will mind but tbh I'm more than happy if he doesn't play for us again.

For those saying that him not playing will cost us points - the fact is he cost us points in the last 2 games not because of what he could have done but because of what he did. We're safe in the prem this season, and I think the best we can finish is 7th with him and 7th without him.

The more important factor is that we have a dozen games to see what Diabaté, Silva, Gray et al are capable of without Riyad. He's gone in the summer so let's not waste the beginning of next season sorting out our team. Let's do it now.

For those who think him not playing will reduce his price - it won't, he isn't going to be any better or worse a player and any team that wants him will realise that and expect to be able to bring the best out of him.

If he's going to work hard between now and the end of the season then play him, his attitude this week says he doesn't want to play for us again. If so think of it as a groin injury and let him spend some time in France/Algeria/North London/Manchester and get on with life.

There is life after Mahrez and it's bright.

I would not booooo him if he played for us again. But the sooner he fvcks off the better.

What I don't get is people saying but he was in the team that won the prem for us. So that makes acting the cvnt ok?

So if an ex choir boy turns rapist that's ok to?

As the old cliché goes your as god as your last game. Oh yes he didn't turn up he was to busy acting the cvnt.

Well it's a good job that my life doesn't rely on you trusting me to live it then isn't it?

Whats the issue, haven't you  used your Riyad Mahrez single duvet cover set enough yet?
