Your last Pint?

Recommended Posts

Had one in the castle and then two tailed lion last night. On a Thursday night, both were empty(me and my partner were the only ones in both). Thankfully for both places she loves a savoury snack, albeit we had to top and tail last night, as the smell of her feet were more pleasant than scotch egg and a chicken samosa.

A really really good Guinness in Duffy’s last night.

Just done exactly the same. As well as a Guinness in Ronnie Roos. First time I’ve been to town on a weekday, non Xmas, for years I think. It’s so quiet. Pretty sad

Aye it’s getting worse Leicester in that respect. Not even a student scene now either by the looks of it.

To counter that, great crowd in Real Ale Classroom tonight, albeit rest of week the city is dying.

A few pints in the Lord Nelson in Southwold over the last few nights. I think Adnams is a pretty average brewery but any excellence is amplified in the setting that Southwold creates. Going to get a crate of Blackshore Stout to take home with me tomorrow, best pint on Keg over the last week.

I went uni In Leicester 16 years ago and we were out nearly every night somewhere.

Society pub crawls over town on a Tuesday, clubs in town (most closed)

We could afford it. I bet most students can't these days.

I was in soar point most days, I can barely afford a beer in there now.

Going out in Paris made me realize how bad we've got it in big British cities.

In one of the most expensive cities in the world, you still have big groups of young people / students drinking and socialising in the centre until the early hours. London is a wasteland in this sense. It's probably better in provincial British towns.

Only place in England now where you can get a drink really after midnight is a casino or a ****ing Popworld.

Well jealous of all the photos and posts I've seen of post-match boozing on King Street in Bristol today.

Fantastic city for boozing in. Bristol and Liverpool are the best 2nd tier cities for it imo.

Afternoon all. Glorious day for a bank holiday pint or two. I’ll be off to the Bankers for a Lukas shortly.

Going slightly off topic for those who enjoy wine, tried Aldi’s knock off of Campo Viejo red last night. That’s a very good copy and about £1.50 cheaper than the real stuff.

Happy Easter to the best thread on FT.

Damn well glad I went home yesterday at full time with that weather and THAT result, although yes it is a fantastic party city. Motion is consistently in the top 50 best clubs in the world

Mountsorrel is pound for pound maybe the best place in the county for drinking. Wilfred Pinsent, Sorrel Fox, The Swan and (less so) The Waterisde are fantastic

Sorrel is very good now isn’t it. I love walking down the canal in summer from Barrow and stopping off at the Navigation and Swan.

What’s the deal with Pinsent? Haven’t been there yet. Don’t really get it

It’s like a niche off license but they have a few taps and a fair amount of seating. It was busy for just before 17:00 on a Thursday - although it could have just been the bank holiday’s doing.

A couple of very heavy days and not really much of a clue of what I’ve drank other than one of the best stouts I’ve had. Think it was Whiplash brewery Slow Life.

Agree with the comments on Bristol, incredible for boozing.
