The report said there is unrest in the camp and the players aren't happy with the training and all of sudden we've all decided that the players are demanding to be in the team, they're not trying for the manager and they want him sacked. It's nothing but speculation, none of us know what's going on behind the scene.

If players feel they could be utilised better through playing to their strengths, individually or tactically, why should they not convey concerns to the manager. Only a fool would ignore them surely, especially if that manager had only been on the scene a few months.

This. Puel doesn't strike me as the best communicator but I'm surprised it doesn't look like he's leaned more on Appleton, who has a great reputation for involving his players in analysis and encouraging leadership, to fill that role.

I'm not going to bash the players here, there are a lot of factors at play which are puzzling:

  • Puel found a winning formula and brought exciting football back to town. Where has that gone?
  • The constant changes in the lineups (some were unavoidable because of injuries and suspensions) are unsettling and the players don't seem to understand some of the decisions
  • Leaving Silva out as long as he did-- the players have made no secret about how good of a player they think he is. He's already been enough of a victim thanks to FIFA and the way we handled the transfer with Sporting.
  • Putting Mahrez straight back into the lineup after the transfer debacle (I had no issue with that but I can see how some of his teammates might care)

I understand that transitions take time but there are points on the table that are being thrown at this team and we're dropping them left and right.

Puel may have a grand and effective vision, and, as of now, deserves a summer transfer window. In the meantime, he has to get the best out of what he's got, and it's clear, for whatever reason, that he's not. Regular people leave jobs all the time because of their managers-- Puel needs to show the players he wants to keep and those he wants to acquire that Leicester is the place to be while he's wearing his vest on the sideline.

I really doubt Mahrez is one of the upset players. He doesn’t seem to be a part of the central clique (if it is a clique). Further, he’s been much better under Puel, and is too talented to have an affinity for the ol’ sit back, hoof and run like mad approach.

Bloke's face doesn't fit as always. Essential player during the season and not the guy to be part of a coup, by a fcking mile but still ending as punching bag for the same fickle fans, quick to forget that wihout him we'd be flirtng with Southampton. He wants out fair enough, I don't want him next season but putting him as part of the clique is frankly ridiculous.

This thread is simultaneously the funniest and most depressing thing I have ever read.  A bunch of grown adults going full on mental over, so far, literally nothing.  X

Its speculation to make news to sell papers.

eh, Percy isn't that writer though. He almost certainly has several sources.

Here I was thinking that 8th is acceptable and we were losing games because teams are playing us at what was our own game. When most teams are away it is acceptable to sit back and they are doing us because we don't have a team that knows/capable of breaking that down.

I did tell you this would happen. It's a theme with this squad. The tactics have been consistently terrible since May 2016 and the only thing that has made the difference between good and poor form has been whether the players are up for it or not.

It's the same reason we did well in the Champions League, have generally raised our game against the bigger sides, and also why we have had improved results under the last 2 managers before tailing off again.

I don't really have any sympathy with Puel on this occassion. Everyone should be pissed off with the sort of football we're playing.

But it just proves that we are too quick to paper over the cracks without actually analysing the way we are playing. The players were always going to stop believing in this pedestrian style, just like they did with Ranieri and Shakespeare when they failed to stick to the way we need to be playing, the only way of playing that has actually brought us any success.

Tired of hearing about players expecting to dictate, hoping Puel sells the culprits of the revolt if true. We should have binned them off after snakey and the band of merry men stabbed CR in the back.

So the players have worked out Puel’s shite... not much of a surprise really.

I back the players, they were right about Claudio and stuck by Pearson when it was right to do so. Players aren’t idiots, they will know and feel when things are and are not working.

P45 for Claude.

"they were right about Claudio"

What were they right about? seeing as they won the league the season before, and then ended up looking like a bunch of goons 5 months later.

Some of the players are unquestionnably idiots too. I mean seriously, a lot of footballers are idiots. Gray does laughing gas. An idiot does that. Vardy shouts "jap" at someone, an idiot does that. Simpson hits women. an idiot does that.

They might play alright at football, but theres still idiots in every squad.

Claudio had lost the plot - Saints away showed that.

And not idiots in terms of what they do best, which is play football and how to get the best out of themselves individually and collectively - it’s like you’re own job, if a new manager comes in and starts telling you to do stuff that makes no sense with the way you know how to do your job, you’re gonna think **** this guy, become demotivated and less productive.

Its like when Kante joined - the squad quickly knew they had one hell of a player in their ranks and it raised their games by those key extra percentage points as well.

why even have a manager. just let the players get on with it if they know "how to do their job"

Because it’s very difficult to play and manage - sole focus is a key area of getting the best sporting performance individually.

It’s why so many of England’s Cricket captains suddenly struggle with their batting because they’re having to adjust to the extra load of thinking and responsibility.

But do you not agree - if someone’s instructing you to do a job badly, your performance drops?

In which case the manager is failing to communicate / utilise his resources correctly - and is therefore a failing manager?
