A couple of my stalkers on here might beg to differ @Blue Fox 72

Any idea why the local “reporters” have never mentioned the stuff you’ve brought up re Rudkin, pretty poor from them IMO

The more I look into his history as a manager and look at what players have said about his work ethic, his philosophy, his training and genera philosophy, the more I genuinely think he should be number 1 target.

With rumours suggesting Silva AND Evans could be coming to us it could be a VERY good summer indeed.

Between him and Benitez I'm honestly leaning more toward Silva at the moment.

He ticks a lot of boxes and would be a good fit for us. He’s young, hungry & energetic which is what we need.

His close relationship with Jorge Mendes would be a massive bonus also

People don't want home because he wanted to go to Everton from Watford? Well yea of course he did. The transfer budget at Everton would have been in a different league to Watford for a start.

Like a manager wouldn't leave Leicester if a top 6 club came for him

Silva is class. Bring him in.

I think it is he reaction when he was refused his chance to go to Everton that concerned most people.  Watford had been flying and all of a sudden their results fell off a cliff.

I think he is talented and plays attractive football.  I wouldn't be against him but that is a black mark against.

It is, but I doubt anyone above us would touch him for a while for that sort of reason. We'd be a stepping stone for him I imagine but he'd be here a while.

Am I reading this right?

You’d rather have as our next manager a bloke who has had very little time in Premiership management, at Hull and Watford, over a seasoned campaigner who has won the Champions League and turned around a very poor Newcastle side and given them Premiership stability already?

Only on Foxes Talk....

Lose to Bournemouth and he would over night become the shittest manager in the clubs history.

I can see what he is saying though, Benitez is a quality proven manager no doubt and getting him here would be a coup. At the same time, Silva seems to be a rough diamond with endless potential and plays the much better football. I'm torn between the 2.

One thing is for sure, either of them over Puel in a heartbeat.

Agree with this. I think also that he is perhaps been a little harshly judged on that whole thing.

He did the exact same thing Dyche did and when asked, just didn't rule out any possibility of leaving.

The problem was, Watford were overachieving at the time and although naive to think the results dropping off was just a coincidence, where they are now is a must better reflection in terms of their squad.

I'm sure he still prepared his team the same way and went about his business. Results just took a turn and he was unable to recover it, which off course suggests he perhaps isn't the top manager yet that many have suggested in the media, but I do think he has shown decent signs of becoming one eventually.

Realistically, we won't get Benitez and definitely not Wenger or any other big name that we also seem to believe we are capable of.

There really aren't that many options out there and those that are, are usually untested in the Premier League. That's a big reason I favour this appointment. He has experience here and we also know the brand of football he likes to play, the kind of players he signs and also seen some impressive wins for Watford and Hull along the way.

Is Ricardo linked to Jorge Mendes?

Achieving not much with style, over winning massive trophies pragmatically in other words.

Not much of a dilemma really.

Agreed on Benitez but I highly doubt he will leave Newcastle for us. Fully expect them to be sold this Summer, keeping Benitez happy enough. He joined them and stayed with them when they went down because as he has said recently, he believes they have the potential to be a huge club and I'm sure he wants to be a part of that.

Silva is a realistic target and that little time in the Prem he has, is actually a real bonus for us if we do get him.

Yeah I can see that.

After Saturdays abysmal performance, I realised 100% that Puel needed to go. I wanted it to work for him (well us as a club) after the fantastic start we had made under him. It felt like we had a good direction but over time it's just fizzled away.

I thought about who we could get in to replace Puel that was realistic, and I thought Marco Silva would be a good appointment. Sure, like a lot of us Rafa would be a great appointment but I don't think we realistically have a great chance it will happen. If he is to leave Newcastle I think he'd be attracting bigger clubs than ours.

As for Marco Silva (of which I was disappointed we didn't go for before appointing Shakespeare) I think his teams in England have done well, played good football, work hard and he seems very intelligent and tactically a good manager. I think he'd get a better tune out of our players than Claude has now in terms of motivation at the very least.

Yes I know Hull went down, but they dramatically improved and just couldn't quite get over the last bridge to safety. Watford were flying until the Everton situation. Would he be tempted somewhere else like when he was at Watford? Maybe, but I'm sure he'll have learnt his lesson from that situation. Plus we're a club on the up, with funds to spend. We're an attractive proposition if he can get it right.

We could do a lot worse than him, and I don't think we'd realistically get much better.

Didn't realise we were not allowed preferences?

How long did you bang on about Lee Cattermole?

Why Silva?

Don't see he's a step up let alone a significant step up from Puel.

I just remember a Sporting fan telling us that Silva pulled the same stunt there before doing the same with Watford. And Sporting was at the same if not at a better level to us. @Eagle10?

Other realistic options?

I like Hughton, surprised he doesn't get more of a mention in the discussions. I think he shares the qualities we look for here, in terms of looking for good talent at reasonable prices like Locadia, Izquierrdo, Gross etc, whilst playing quite a direct style.

I still think Allardyce is a safe shout. It wouldn't be universally popular, but he is a good fit for us I think.
