Other realistic options?

I don't think we have any higher level manager who will come and manage us but Silva would be a step backwards and a bad move.

What I would say about Benitez, and ill keep this just specifically to his time at Newcastle, and just play devils advocate on the Silva/Benitez discussion

hes had a glittering career in management, but ill just keep it to Newcastle for now.

When Newcastle were in the championship, it would have been a disappointment not to get at least a playoff place, and push for automatic promotion. They had an excellent team and added to it with big money signings too like Matt Richie, Dwight Gayle etc. These were funded by sales of course, but I don't think too many were disappointed to see the back of Sissoko for example.

He got them up, no issues, job done.

In the Premier League, his Newcastle hype seems to be almost entirely built on a very small mini run at the end of the season, started by the Man Utd result and then a few successive wins. That's been the only point at which they've been any good this season really. They actually struggled at home badly in the first half of the season, and although hes had no money, the only decent player he seems to have discovered is Kenedy, who he hasn't actually signed permanently, so they'll lose him.

Hes been a master at deflecting the teams problems in a direction away from himself with clever management. He can always talk about the takeover, the lack of funds, the board as an easy cop out that fans will easily buy into because they like him, and they don't like Ashley.

In terms of his successes, he has implemented those with players and squads way better than ours

So I can understand there would be question marks too

After Saturdays abysmal performance, I realised 100% that Puel needed to go. I wanted it to work for him (well us as a club) after the fantastic start we had made under him. It felt like we had a good direction but over time it's just fizzled away.

I thought about who we could get in to replace Puel that was realistic, and I thought Marco Silva would be a good appointment. Sure, like a lot of us Rafa would be a great appointment but I don't think we realistically have a great chance it will happen. If he is to leave Newcastle I think he'd be attracting bigger clubs than ours.

As for Marco Silva (of which I was disappointed we didn't go for before appointing Shakespeare) I think his teams in England have done well, played good football, work hard and he seems very intelligent and tactically a good manager. I think he'd get a better tune out of our players than Claude has now in terms of motivation at the very least.

Yes I know Hull went down, but they dramatically improved and just couldn't quite get over the last bridge to safety. Watford were flying until the Everton situation. Would he be tempted somewhere else like when he was at Watford? Maybe, but I'm sure he'll have learnt his lesson from that situation. Plus we're a club on the up, with funds to spend. We're an attractive proposition if he can get it right.

We could do a lot worse than him, and I don't think we'd realistically get much better.

i seem to remember that there was a delay in giving Shakespeare the job permanently, as the owners were looking at other options as to who was available. Maybe they ruled him out at that point as not what they were looking for.

What can I say I'm a risk taker. Love a rough diamond. Silva has massive potential.

I do remember sitting there in October very annoyed that we'd not gone for Marco Silva in hindsight.

I just remember a Sporting fan telling us that Silva pulled the same stunt there before doing the same with Watford. And Sporting was at the same if not at a better level to us. @Eagle10?

He is a great manager, but seems to have some problems with presidents. But I think he would be a good choice for Leicester to be honest.

Where's Arsene Wenger going? Into retirement? If not would anyone welcome him at Leicester?

With open arms.

Quite surprised he’s being mentioned again.

After everyone lost their shit over us not getting him in the summer, it came out that we’d never targeted him and the only manager Rudkin had chased was David Wagner.

Dont see why that would have changed now to be honest, if anything his stock has dropped since the summer.

1)  no idea

2) apparently not

3) inapplicable question (as in would you welcome Cavani at Leicester?)

The question wasn't would be come it was would we welcome him. The answer is yes (I would welcome Cavani too)!

Rudkin would not be tolerated by Wenger.  So this will never happen. Next.

why stop there ...... simeone, allegri, anchelotti, messi, (we really need a no 10 )  ... I would welcome all of these. simeone could play right back

Lots of talk of Everton resuming their interest in him. Big Sam won't last and I imagine what they liked about Silva originally, still interests them now.

If we lose to West Ham, then I hope our owners act quickly as there will be a number of clubs around Europe changing their manager this summer, and there really is a shortage of good managers around who would consider us!

Slight difference between managers and players who are currently employed at top clubs. Wenger wants a new challenge and we have the money to tempt him IMO. Not saying it will happen at all but it's a hell of alot more likely than those other names (yes I know it was sarcasm....)

It’s all nonsense anyway

Even if Wenger for some miraculous reason was interested in coming to Leicester, I think its already a widely established fact that the majority of people want to play direct football.

So why on earth would you want one of the biggest modern exponents of tiki taka to come and manage us?

.....not direct football, we played good football in our title winning season, played in on the floor, the ball over the top to Vardy, played triangles when playing out from the back the players backed themselves on the ball. We seem to have two factions on this forum who seems to want to overstate a situation in order to meet their argument. We did not play agricultural football and I surmise a more faster paced with the added composure is what we are looking for as opposed to the (lets say) Manchester City style. It also goes to show that the Liverpool method is more superior to the Manchester City method in the context of one on one.

As for having Wenger, he is a dinosaur, a relic from the past, the game has moved on but he has not.

Would be unpopular but I would take Allardyce.

No point expanding the stadium if we're going from Puel to Allardyce.

This seems to be a misconception of what people are asking for. Those asking for Allardyce though.. i'll give you them!

As I said before, why are people suggesting it has to be one or the other. Tiki Taka OR Hoof. That really our only options?

I want somewhere in between, like many others I expect.
