He's just not that good when making the right decisions he can be unplayable but we have yet to see enough of it, plenty of time to develop though so I would keep hold esp with Mahrez going it could make him step it up 2
tetly Posted 29 May 2018 Posted 29 May 2018 Give him a chance but he has to step up and produce the goods now. I think him and Chilwell should have gained a lot of experience last season, playing more games than before has to have helped develop them. They are both good young players. I think we have a quiet a few good young players in our squad now.
bpfox Posted 30 May 2018 Posted 30 May 2018 how the hell, can he still be here he is a pretender, he and chilwell will never be more than VERY average players.
Grebfromgrebland Posted 30 May 2018 Posted 30 May 2018 We have to keep him we don't have anything better waiting to take his place! 1

With Roberts in the team and Puel playing people in the right positions, the left side would be taken up by Roberts. Diabate's favored position is on the right and with 4-2-3-1 that leaves Nacho in the middle of the forward three. Gray would have to act as cover for Diabate or Roberts and will still be struggling for games.....back to square one!!! I think he has been waiting for Mahrez to go and saw himself as the replacement for the right side. He really now has to ask himself what it is he wants for himself and how best to make that happen. Unless he has an amazing pre-season to get ahead of Diabate, we will perhaps looking at a January transfer next season. I'd play him on the right wing and get decent crosses in for Nacho and/or Vardy. Diabate as a left-fotter should be on the left. If neither work had enough then Albrighton takes their place

I honestly think Ndidi, Diabate, Chilwell and Iheanacho have far more potential. If i we're to rate them in terms of potential; 1. Ndidi 2. Ihenacho 3. Diabate 4. Chilwell 5. Gray 3
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 2 June 2018 Posted 2 June 2018 Big season for Gray if / when Mahrez goes it’s a perfect platform for him to step up and prove he is the new messiah 1

baldeagle Posted 2 June 2018 Posted 2 June 2018 For me we keep Gray , yep he’s not impressed massively or improved like we hoped he would but he’s still young. If we sold him who would you buy who is better that is still young and has potential without spending mega money . Yes there are better players Hazard etc but they are guys that are ready now you’ve got to still have some young guys slowly breaking through . We really didn’t pay a lot of money for him is Grealish a better player for the money being quoted

Yes but doesn’t seem to work for Gray (right footed on the left) because he almost always cuts in to the right and shoots high and/or wide. Mahrez makes the same move (mirror image) but is much more effective at actually scoring, and is able to mix it up more by sometimes going right and cutting it back with his right foot.

If neither work had enough then Albrighton takes their place ....the problem is, as a left footer playing on the right, you have an advantage when cutting in on your preferred foot and prevent the defenders showing you to the outside and down the line. If you look at Mahrez, Robben and now Mo Salah they are lethal as they are given this advantage as opposed to a right footed player. Diabate needs to play on the right, he is unselfish and so may just supply the assist to Vardy that Mahrez omits to play on a regular basis. I am still unsure why we continue to send in crosses in the box as we would not be playing to Vardy's or Nacho's strengths and believe a slide rule ball on the floor would be more beneficial. Ian Nacho Posted 2 June 2018 Posted 2 June 2018 People want Shaqiri but Gray is just the same. Turns up for about 3 games a season and gets a good reputation from outsiders.
dmayne7 Posted 3 June 2018 Posted 3 June 2018 And when he has actually been given a chance. Lucky if he gets 3 games in a row. The talent's there, just needs to knuckle down. Decent option for now.
