Difficult to watch Puel -  O'Neill. Pearson and Ranieri were great to watch....    regarding the poll, havenlt voted as the MOST likely result will be success (9th/10) that feels like a failure....   there's an optimistic part of me that thinks if this team can gell and one of the big teams messes up we could be top 6 - and I am putting money on that...

Now that the transfer window has closed, and now that we have concluded our business for the summer, time for some thoughts on the season ahead.

Puel now has to act on what has been a very successful transfer window for the club.  I believe that he will and will do it well.  It's a clean slate for me, what happened last season was none of his doing, he became a victim of the circumstance we found ourselves in imo.  Still, there's no room for excuses this season, he has to hit the ground running and turn in some early positive performances and results.  That starts tomorrow night.  With the correct attitude and application, we can go there and get a result.  No doubt of that.

He has a decent squad of players to choose from - defensively the options there must be as plentiful as some of the best in the league after today's transfer dealings.  If we could have found a like for like replacement for Mahrez we'd have been well set, but perhaps Puel will look to Pereira for the width and play three narrow forwards behind the lone striker up front.  The danger for me looks as though it's now coming from multiple fronts, rather than just a hit and miss Mahrez, which all became a little too predictable towards the end of last season.  If Puel can find a way of playing Nacho, Maddison and Vardy, alongside an in form Gray, Diabate, Ghezzal, Albrighton or Silva, we'll not be far off the top 6 imo.

I'm after a high tempo performance tomorrow night, put a shift in and we can cause them problems.

We're in for a decent season.  Happy days.

Not a huge fan of Puel but this has been, on paper at least, a decent transfer window.

If he gets us playing to their strengths, rather than too much tippy-tappy going-nowhere stuff we saw in the second half of last season, we'll be fine.

Good window, but it's a young squad. What we want to see is progress, I don't expect us to be in the top six, but confident across the three competitions we'll do well.

He knows what he is doing. I think a top 7 finish is not unrealistic.  Has significantly strengthened defensively which was critical and bought well I think. I'd keep Slimani though it looks highly unlikely.  He offers something different from the other strikers.

Hope he’ll be a success. The problem he and one or Two other managers have is; Before the season even starts, I wouldn’t bet against Man City winning it again. Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham will most likely occupy the next 5 places. So, Is finishing 7th a success?

Or can we realistically challenge for a top 6?

When i think about how much talent is in the top 6 (even though its been several years since we won) i still cant believe we won it. Absolute Madness.

Its almost impossible that any manager outside the top 6 realistically has a chance of not being fired for where they finish given its a results business. We should not be relegation fodder but at the same time 7th to say 12th  could be the difference between a few bad results.

Its very hard to punch above your weight in this league and finish top 6.   7th seems obvious but when you are competing against clubs like everton, west ham (ahem burnley) etc its not so easy.  They all expect that too.

If we finish 7th puel doesnt get fired. But if we finish anywhere from 8th to say 12th does it really make sense to fire him? Is someone going to come in and guarantee a 7th or higher spot given the top 6 competition is tight?

Sure we've won the league but realistically top 12 is where we "belong" in this league. Striving to be 7th or higher every year is a great expectation as it gets us into europe.. i think the key for puel will be to consistently deliver top 10th finishes (or higher) until we are more established.  We need to push it from being a top 6 to a top 7 league. Thats of course if we stick to a long term vision that rome wasnt built in a day. You cant keep firing managers and expect to accomplish that.

I think what might be key for us as well is making a cup final and hopefully winning it.

Best of luck to puel and the club. You have my full support and i hope we punch above our weight this year!

If Puel gets us performing, with decent Team Presentation, showing ambition and commitment

Chasing top 6,though finishing in the top 10,then there is no need to go around sacking him.

If you cant really compete for the high Trophies ,then a managers duty IMO,is to to create

a Stable and exciting Team and Period for the Club....Make the Team a Team that people

enjoy to follow or watch...

I think we now have the resources that Puel has been crying out for.

Forget last season, it was clear as day that the personnel we had in place was incapable of executing his plan.

We've had a cracking window in terms of signing's to address our weaknesses (Can't believe what I'm about to say, but Rudkin has done well), and I think Puel will manage to get the best from Ghezzal, along with Mendy, Gray, Chilwell, and Iheanacho, with the latter group feeling like new additions.

I have full faith in Puel to lead this team into a new era for the club. The core was rotten but he's managed to freshen it up and develop a style of play which is synchronised across the varying developmental levels within the club which should enable us too integrate our upcoming future stars into the first team comfortably when called upon.

Given the owner's intentions to invest in the infrastructure of the club I believe that we have some exciting times ahead.
