Would it? Outside the top 6 the PL isn't that great. Stoke finished 9th for three years, Bournemouth finished 9th the other season and Newcastle finished 10th last season despite the fact they'd just got promoted.

It has nothing to do with winning the league, 4 years ago we were new to the league. If you've been established for three or four years in the league then you should be pushing for anything 12th and above now, especially with the resources we have.

We are, what we are,I have ambitions, but no over the top expectations....I will sit back and enjoy

you squirming,   while I just follow the Trail of the happy clapper, and the highs and lows of the PL.

I think he will struggle again unfortunately and not last the season.

I can see what he is trying to do here, with the change of style and investing time and money into younger players.

However, I just think he will struggle to get us winning games on a consistent basis and the players and fans could quickly lose faith in his methods.

Prove me wrong though Puel. Please!

Not long since we lost 5-0  (8-0 aggregate) to one of the worst Premier league sides ever (Palace) managed by one of the all-time plonkers (Woy). We were on such a bad run and playing such dire, turgid football that,

At the time, a similiar poll said over 92% wanted Mr.Dull gone.

Please, please tell me what has changed in the meantime that now makes him the new LCFC Messiah??

Just before that game, more than 60% wanted him to stay.
A few weeks later, the poll showed the same numbers.

And here is what happened :

LCFC played a game agains one of the best teams in the Premier League at the time (considering 2018 games only, Crystal Palace would be ranked 5th in the Premier League) with a kid (Choudury) playing MC, Albrighton playing RB because there weren't any other option on the bench and a really bad back-up goalkeeper,
There was also a red card and the game went 0-5.

People went mad and later, the more reasonable ones understood the defeat was more circumstancial than anything and were back to their initial choice in the poll.

You're welcome.

A failure. I don't think he'll be around here much longer. A couple of bad results early on and I can't see him recovering.

I hope I'm wrong but I'm surprised he's still here given the atmosphere at the end of last season.

I'm glad he's here, otherwise I'm convicted we'd still be lining up with Shinji, Simpson & Wes.

Someone who lays some good foundations at the club without ever being particularly memorable or notable.

I feel like he'll keep us above relegation but never good enough to really challenge for the top 6. Hopefully in the meantime he's able to develop enough young talent that we can overhaul this squad, and perhaps the next manager will reap the rewards (like a pearson - ranieri situation).

I think he'll ultimately fail here. I like what he's trying to do,the players he's bringing in, but I don't think he has the man-management skills or communication (or charisma?)to actually create a good team.

He's somebody than plans well but executes poorly in my opinion.

He'd make a good director of football rather than a manager.

Hes in the Seat,of the one who is going to need to ring in the changes,

Phase out old style and ethos,..either rekindle dwindling careers or move ...

the "Access to rquirements" players on. Favourites , legends and nonfavourites will go.

It is the time, where a revamp is needed, he as the job,now lets see and give him time to swing it.

I am Sitting on the fence. The 1st game at Manu,is for me a freebee, but from  thereon, his selection

the style and Character he wants to build will have to take shape.

Everygame I will not jump on any bandwagon, but expect fast improvement of Presentation compared

to what was dished up from Feb upto the last 3 games of the season.

Again I will first see how it goes, within 5 game routines ,upto December....

Through that Period I will support him and "now his team",... 1stly without question....

Mistakes, dips in Form, will mean nothing,it how we show we can progress and evolve that matters.

September...far too early for the " told ya so" brigade....but ready to join 'EM if Puel cant strutt his stuff,

by middle October...

I've supported him since he's got the job simply because I know he's a top Coach. I was even more convinced when he was brave enough to break up the team from February to end of season. This was a brave move but needed doing to find out what he had in the squad in live Matches. I genuinely believe he could have got us into Europe but realized we weren't good enough, preferring to start the rebuilding process early. That's the sign of a confident Coach with real belief in his own ability.  The signings in this window while not household names I believe will go on to prove themselves here.

The only reservation I have is if results don't go well early then he could be under pressure. But if he can keep us midtable

then I do believe the Team will grow together and we'll be well placed for success next season.

This season all I'm hoping for is a mid table finish and a decent cup run.

I genuinely wish him well and welcome the new players to the Club.

Onwards and upwards we go.

I don't success or failure matters for some fans. They're not wholly judging Claude by that.

When people looked to the dug-out and saw Pearson, O'Neil, Shakespeare they saw people they liked. They saw people similar to them. When they look down to see Ranieri they saw someone funny, likable, charismatic. Pearson, Ranieri and Shakespeare all had charisma. Fans could see themselves down the pub with Pearson. When they saw O'Neill they saw passion and commitment. These people are very likeable people.

Puel does not endear himself to a lot of fans. Puel comes across as aloof. He has a man bag. You get the idea he doesn't care what you think. When he speaks he rarely says funny things. He rarely says interesting things. You can rarely properly hear him speak. Puel doesn't seem like a laugh. He's not the man you'd chose to go down the pub with. Ranieri went around to pubs in Leicestershire buying rounds for people. He even wore a locally made coat. It's very unlikely Puel will do this.

I don't think people dislike Puel as a manager. I reckon they dislike Puel as a person. They want to be entertained by their manager. And fair enough, this is sport and entertainment. They want Puel to endear himself to the fans. It's unlikely Puel will do this. But he may be a great manager. He might be fantastic for youth development. He might, just might, bring good football to the pitch. But he's unlikely to be charismatic, unlikely to be likeable. And that's not good enough for many.

No my dislike of Puel is based purely on the negative footballing dross I had to endure last season. That was down to him and him alone. We had / still have great talented players who know how to play attacking football but you just know it is going to be pass sideways --pass back --pass sideways again. Stifling their natural talent as they try to carry out his negative style of football. I know it was only pre-season friendlies but I saw nothing in those games that said he has changed.

I hope sucess but fear failure Just put £30 on relegation @14/1.

If he stays around based on last year's showing we will be fighting around the bottom six. His style destroyed the atmosphere at the KP. Lets give him a chance and get behind him but Gut feeling is not good.

At least we were passing it, unlike the last 2 managers lol

The atmosphere was crap before his arrival.

That's a good point.

He HASN'T used his preferred tactics in England and I'd imagine that he's seen shortcomings in both squads, (Southampton & Leicester), that made him think he couldn't implement them yet.

He never got the chance to radically reshape Saint's squad, but he's having the opportunity here.

I like the fact that he seems to want to bring the kids through and his signings, generally, seem to suggest we'll be going high tempo again!

Glass half full for me !

There's a few decent Puel tactical analysis videos online, one of them in particular was an interesting watch as although they analysed his tactics well, they were well off the mark assuming Leicester players would suit the tactics when he came in, example, when he said Simpson and Fuchs were attacking players.

He seems to be trying to remedy that with players that can hold the ball up and keep possession whilst being able to switch on a counter when needed.

He then speaks about counter attacks here in some detail where he clearly takes the approach of holding possession and only countering when it's the right moment for a quality attack, and not just to attack as soon as we get possession which can lead to players being out of position should we lose the ball on the counter.

Interesting really when you step back and look at last season, he often said all of these things in his press conferences as to why we were less ruthless going forward as he clearly wanted the players to put quality counters over sheer numbers of counters.

He's definitely a methodical tactician. I genuinely believe given time he will prove a success, but even if he's only given a season, he will leave the club in a much stronger position than he inherited. And definitely with better players.

You've been wise, people really have lost their minds, and are still doing so.

Always the same on her. It will take good results until xmas and a high position for most to forgive Puel.

You only have to look at Vardy and Drinky at the start of the promotion season. Just look at the first game boro away match thread. NP got slated just for picking them both.
