To be honest I've had a break from FT off-season, this place goes further into meltdown than during the league if the past is anything to go by, especially after such a poor ending. Didn't know there was a Puel thread that got pulled lol. 

 

Hopefully it won't end in a FT war, be nice if people just voted and left

One of the reasons I was pro Puel was in the January window he probably could have spent a fortune but didn't. For me it's the sign of a good manager that treats his club's money like it was his own and looks for value. I always remember ex Leicester chairman John Elsom saying Peter Taylor always wanted one more player and another few million to spend despite spending a fortune for the time. Poor managers always want more players despite the costs as it gives them more options when everything else they try fails because they have little confidence in what they're doing is right.

 

Puel signing only a young promising player in Diabate for £2m and tried to shift a lot of players who were here adding little to the squad was a great sign this January and the actions of a man I wanted at my club. The signings of Pereira, Maddison and Evans looked like he was a man who knew what his plan was.

 

However the signing of Ward looks poorly thought out and extravagant paying a world record fee for a reserve GK. Ghezzal looks like an unnecessary risk when the club could afford and were crying out for a top drawer replacement for Mahrez. If we sign Diouf I will have lost all faith in my original assessment that Puel treats the club's money like his own.

I've got this feeling he'll become a success. Whilst some may critisise the transfers to date, even uninspiring, I really think we'll push on and have a solid team, blooded youngsters and a reasonable finish this coming season.

I don't success or failure matters for some fans. They're not wholly judging Claude by that.

 

When people looked to the dug-out and saw Pearson, O'Neil, Shakespeare they saw people they liked. They saw people similar to them. When they look down to see Ranieri they saw someone funny, likable, charismatic. Pearson, Ranieri and Shakespeare all had charisma. Fans could see themselves down the pub with Pearson. When they saw O'Neill they saw passion and commitment. These people are very likeable people.

 

Puel does not endear himself to a lot of fans. Puel comes across as aloof. He has a man bag. You get the idea he doesn't care what you think. When he speaks he rarely says funny things. He rarely says interesting things. You can rarely properly hear him speak. Puel doesn't seem like a laugh. He's not the man you'd chose to go down the pub with. Ranieri went around to pubs in Leicestershire buying rounds for people. He even wore a locally made coat. It's very unlikely Puel will do this.

 

I don't think people dislike Puel as a manager. I reckon they dislike Puel as a person. They want to be entertained by their manager. And fair enough, this is sport and entertainment. They want Puel to endear himself to the fans. It's unlikely Puel will do this. But he may be a great manager. He might be fantastic for youth development. He might, just might, bring good football to the pitch. But he's unlikely to be charismatic, unlikely to be likeable. And that's not good enough for many.
