The whole world smiles Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 Anyone else sick of reading reports in the media that Puel or Shakespeare or Ranieri has upset the players with team selection or his methods or removing fooking chicken burgers from the menu and lost the dressing room? This is quite obviously some of the players whining to their contacts in the media. If it happened once you can write it off and blame the manager. But this is the 3rd manager it's happened in 2 and half years so the problem must lie at the players door. Now I'm not interested in a wich hunt where we try and guess which players are or aren't involved. But I do think the players that are involved need a massive reality check. The chairman decides who the manger is not the players. If your not completely satisfied with your boss..... Then I'm afraid you have to do what the rest of the country does and suck it up, get on with your job and be professional. You get paid millions and millions of pounds and are an inspiration to thousands of adoring fans whose life's you enrich when you play well and win. it's an incredibly privileged position so get on with your fooking job.

lcfc matt Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 I couldn’t agree more with you.they need to grow up and take there heads out there backsides.i live behind the training ground and often see them in the local shop and they look at you like your something they have stepped in. just because they kick a ball around with air in and have more money than me doesn’t make them a better human than any of us.they really annoy me sometimes they forget how lucky they actually are.they forgot they play in one of the most glamorous and well watched leagues in the world and should cherish the moment while it lasts ungreatful little boys!

Firstly, it happens at every single club when players aren't getting game time, or results are disappointing. We're not exceptional in that regard. Secondly, the guys who have been accused in the press of undermining Puel aren't the same players who were accused of letting Ranieri down. Percy explicitly said this back in April. If performances are anything to go by, I'd say Schmeichel, Morgan, Albrighton have been three of our better performers of late. Okazaki and Fuchs haven't let us down in terms of effort on the pitch. Vardy has been up and down, but it was his super-human form last year which kept Puel in a job. And obviously these guys were the ones who were the biggest advocates of Shakespeare as manager, so they can't be blamed for his sacking either. If their form wasn't good back then, then I'd put that down to confidence rather than treachery. And I'm not sure 'the rest of the county' sucks it up when people are unsatisfied with the manager. When that happens, the manager normally gets fired. I'm not a Puel Outer (for a transitional season, and bearing in mind our recent problems, our position isn't much worse than what I'd expect it to be, even if it doesn't point to Puel having made a great deal of progress over the past 12 months), but if that happens I'll be able to go through the reasons for it, and most will be evident failings on his part. Why anyone wants to dredge up unsubstantiated accusations against different individuals back in early 2017, I don't know. As for the guys who are letting Puel down on the pitch - Ndidi, Gray, Iheanacho etc. - I suspect most of that is down to poor form, or a system which doesn't suit all of them (it's hard to know, in fact, who it does suit) rather than them, or anyone else, being snakes. But some people seem to think that being a patient, positive fan means blaming our entire playing staff in order to spare the manager, or those responsible for our poor recruitment since 2016. Have some of the players been poor? Sure. Has the poor form of some players cost managers their jobs? Of course, as is the case anywhere else. Are Leicester's problems down to rampant player power or perfectly obvious incompetence in recruitment and by managers who either aren't managers or have shown similar flaws elsewhere in their careers? That shouldn't even be a debate.

What it "quite obviously is" is just the media trying to get clicks so they'll spout any nonsense. I doubt 95% of these whine-mongerers actually have sources in the club
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 Shades of what Roy Keane has recently said about the Mourinho situation. Players in general are too powerful now - a fact of modern football where players are overpaid, pampered and poorly advised by third parties wanting a piece of the pie. It may be deplorable in principle, but I don’t think there’s any coming back this time. If relationships breakdown to the extent the piece in the Mail suggests - which btw almost seem to be describing Ranieri (not taking advice, solitary figure etc) - then a change will happen. And it won’t be an overhaul to the playing squad (because all modern players are like this!). It seems a foregone conclusion.

One of the top posts of the season ...excellent!!!!! Although I think it's right that Players can open up a bit with the press, too many journalists will and want to jump on anything...again!! On anything! and deliberately miscue and twist it.... Players managers, and even ourselves if in a similar position, no matter how protective, honest, we want to be... Every single journalist will jump on it...often the journalists/media work as teams, the one doing the interview, the others re-reading to look if there is a sentences, that they can mis-quote,or deliberately misinterprete...NPearson,A.Ferguson.....didn't adhere to the media for that reason.. Plus too many fans themselves, use this mis-information as facts to go on their own....positive/negative crusades.... It's amazing what snippets forum-fans..jump on.

It's John Percys job to get clicks on his articles. He is bound to exaggerate some things - if Vardy goes to him and says - Manager isn't playing to my strengths, it isn't much of a stretch to go to - Manager is just hanging on for his job. I'm sure he wrote that Puel's job was on the line at the end of last season, too.

If Percy distorts and exaggerates what the players are telling him to such a degree, then why do the players keep calling him with stories? you only have to look how they have blanked radio Leicester for years to know the players won't put up with much.
foxile5 Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 They have made the criminal sin of believing their own hype.

Disagree. No evidence of your previous claim re Ranieri, that it was the players anymore than it was Shakey stirring it up and lining the job up for himself. Ranners was sacked because we were massively under performing, a decision most agreed with at the time. Shakespeare was simply no good and got sacked. Puel this season (and we were shit after January last season) has a worse points per game record than Shakey had, and there is zero entertainment value for the paying customers. This is why he’s in danger of getting sacked plain and simple, it was never going to work with an uninspiring tactical dinosaur with no charisma.
David Hankey Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 Long gone are the days when players simply got on with their jobs. It's all too easy to blame their poor performances onto somebody else, namely the manager.
Matt Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 I think the players are whining to press, that's exactly the problem that players and fans alike have with Puel...

It's irrelevant whether the individual managers deserved the sack or not. My point is that, that decision is for the chairman not the players. I'm not getting into a protracted debate on Puel being shit or if Claudio deserved the sack it been done to death. I'm just sick to death of year in year out reading articles like this week's in the telegraph that are clearly our own players and fully grown men ringing up a journalist to moan about a manger it's pathetic.
brucey Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 I was fully on the players' side for the Ranieri sacking. However in the current situation I can't help but feel the players have got to take some responsibility. I don't mind player power when they are acting in the best interests of the club, but it's starting to feel a bit uncomfortable.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 What about backroom staff and non-playing club staff whining to the press? There are plenty at the training ground who are utterly demotivated. Been saying on here for months there are problems around the club but people choose not to believe it because of a perceived "agenda". It's not just players who brief journalists.
davieG Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 Well it would help our position a lot more if these players learn't that the idea is to pass the ball to one of your team mates not the opposition or no man's land. They need to look at their own performances and get the basics right before moaning about the manager.

The agenda reference was in relation to your “dropped” comment which I think was misleading. You’re in a difficult on position on a forum like this as a journo but also as a fan. Of course you’re entitled to your view like anyone else and in that sense we all have “agendas” but you are in a priveleged position regarding inside info so many rely on what you say as fact. So IMO there is a greater responsibility to post info that is not misleading.

I try and post some insight and behind the scenes snippets and I appreciate not everyone wants to hear certain things. The main thing here is that we're all lcfc and want the best for the club.

Absolutely. I like and appreciate your input. I think it was just in the particular respect referred to that your agenda as a fan with a view displaced the accuracy of what was said. Edit “I hear what you say” is usually code for “you’re talking bollocks”
