Langston Posted 11 January 2019 Share Posted 11 January 2019 Get him and Adams, once Barnes is back too we'll have frightening potential going forward. So interchangeable, too. The Allams say they won't sell but if they get a whiff of a decent offer, he'll go. They're tight.

STUHILL Posted 11 January 2019 Share Posted 11 January 2019 Had a fantastic couple of seasons with Hull with 26 goals as a winger. Their owner has said he isn't for sale, but that doesn't always hold much weight. Another young, talented English player doing well in a tough league like the Championship. If the price is right, could be worth a go!
Grebfromgrebland Posted 11 January 2019 Share Posted 11 January 2019 These guys aren't that good to think that they'll push us on to 6th or 7th. They're doing ok in the championship that's it so far.

I think we will be targeting more players in the Maddison mould, i.e young and making a breakthrough by shining in other leagues. They will still cost a bit, due to the crazy market but if we do our homework on them, then we could do very well from this type of recruitment. I expect Maddison to be worth double what we paid for him over the next couple of seasons, similar to how Maguire's value sky rocketed. I have many criticisms of Puel, but I do think he is able to spot and develop young players with a big future ahead of them. Not saying this Bowen is another Maddison or Chilwell or if we are even after him, but I definitely don't see an issue with this new style of recruitment, especially if we are now required to work to a tighter budget than before. The top 6 are all capable of attracting players from Europe's best clubs. Look at Spurs getting Lucas Moura, Arsenal with Lacazette and Aubameyang. The rest are left to take gambles on players coming good, and even then they're lured to the big 6 if they fulfil their potential. Maddison and Chilwell have both had a good 6 months and we are fearful of losing them. The gap will continue to grow in my view.

We have a top-6 quality defense already, we primarily need an attacking wing who can play in Claude's 4231 and get the ball into dangerous parts of the pitch to pull defenders and open up the box. That was a primary reason why Mahrez was so effective for us, he demanded attention and could pull 2 defenders to him with a third leaning towards him to help, and it would create space for our attacking players to make their runs. The bummer is that Demari Gray has the f'ing skillset to really help here, he is just wholly inconsistent and doesn't seem to understand when to pass at the end of his drives into the box. If he would simply look for Vards aking his run or Maddison lurking near the top of the box, we'd get much higher quality shots and more goals. We probably should've let AFCB have him to be honest. But Gray is a hell of a lot better player than Mahrez at 21 or 22. But let's ignore that. Our biggest need is not a winger who can cross the ball, it's an attacker who can take the chances he gets. Tielemans63 Posted 11 January 2019 Share Posted 11 January 2019 (edited) I'd be up for this, he's a good player from what I've seen of him and he has some impressive stats in a relatively poor side. To be honest, I'm all in favour or recruiting good prospects from the championship. There's some real talent down there and it's obviously not a bad thing if we get a reputation as a club who will give young English players an opportunity at a very high level. Not saying we shouldn't recruit from abroad, just that there are good players on our doorstep who are perhaps more of a known quantity even if they might be a bit more expensive.
