He gave Choudhury the man of the match for his first half performance ??‍♂️

I thought Choudhury was great first half, probably the only one who could walk off the pitch with his head justifiably held high.

Like it or not, Piper is far more qualified to comment than virtually every one of us on this forum. Just listen to what he says and take it or leave it.

Then the actual issue is he lacks realism. We will not crack top six without an infinite amount of oil money (Man City) or some freak luck generating a genuinely world class player from the academy (Spurs). Even then, they just expanded the top 4 to a top six.

What Piper said was, Puel's statement lacked ambition.

His point was, would Top be happy hearing that from his manager - or should a club in Leicester's position be clear that the AMBITION is to break into the top 6?

You have to aim high because if you look around and say this is as far as we can hope to go, you lose motivation - something that seems to be sorely lacking in the dressing room at the moment.

Top and Vichai (likely Rudkin as well) will have sat down with Puel before the season started and agreed that sixth isn't realistic and the aim is 7th. I doubt they'll be unhappy hearing the manager talk about what the agreed aim is.

Finally, someone who gets it.

To say we can't expect better than 7th is unforgivable. This guy is charged with motivating the team.

Justification for saying that?

Because they're not idiots like most of our fanbase, and the noises they made were all about consolidation of our position in the top half. So, maybe actually the target is lower and actually 10th, I'll concede that.

I just wish he'd realise that "Shinji" is pronounced exactly how it's spelt, and not "Shinzy."

Give it time, he eventually got Iheanacho right ;)

Exactly; we don't have the financial fire power of the top 6 or their infrastructures. We don't have the financial freedom of some of the top 10. We're doing well for where we are in our development.

In a few years, we'll have training facilities to rival the best in Europe. At that point, i think they'll want us to push and close that gap.

Does anybody actually care about competing with the top 6? I care that we can’t compete with a 10 man Southampton or any other Poor team at home and the goals have dried up which was bound to happen with minimum chances created.

If you read some posters you'd think we should be top 4.

I agree, I hate how we can't cut through lower teams that just sit there. We struggle with those, always have.

Puel is effectively trying to reduce the pressure put on the players by the media by making statements publicly to lower the expectations.

In the changing room, I'm sure what he is saying is completely different.

Top managers have been making statements like these in the media to reduce the pressure on their players for years.

He was also very critical of Claud Puels comment that breaking into the top six is impossible.  Said he lacked  ambition if he feels that.

Yep Piper did say that.  Immediately after they played the interview with Puel where he said that we couldnt compete financially with the top six sides and wolves and everton.  We cant buy the finished article like they can but we can compete with them if we buy and develop young players.  And to prove my point here is what the mercury reported...

“The question is how can we perform at this club? Do we have the same possibilities and money as Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, or Everton, West Ham or Wolves? Do we have same possibilities? No,” said Puel.

“How can we compete against these teams? We can’t buy the same players, experienced and consistent with a fantastic level.

We can perform if we can take some talented players, younger and develop them.

Not to mention the fact he played for us and coached at city oh and scored the last ever goal at Filbo and didn't want to leave when we sold him. The fact he supported arsenal in his youth means nothing. Heskey was a Liverpool fan but we still took his money when the club was on the brink.

I love Piper as a pundit. Talks sense, and great to hear a proper inner city Leicester accent on radio Leicester for a change.

His improvement is astronomical he was terrible when he first started kept repeating everything back to his own playing days. But he's slowly grew into the role and is arguably better than Elliot now (who I also love).
