What are we entitled to as a fanbase?

Recommended Posts

Entitled? Just look at fanbases who think they are entitled and see how much hate they get because of that.

Liverpool, Everton, and Spurs to name a few.

Do we really want to be labelled like them?

I am entitled to a team and staff that does its best and cannot be bettered on our resources...

I would like free flowing football so that we would believe we could win every game from 2 nill down

We're entitled to enjoy going to the football every now and then. I'd hit the point under Puel when I barely gave a toss that we conceded.

This big time. Absolute disgrace how little respect we get really. It's usually just some condescending drivel whenever it's mentioned anyway. The day we start playing to the narrative they want us to is the day I'm done with us and I worried that this was starting to happen under Puel.

A lot of folk saying 12th is why Leicester should be.

Positioning has nothing to do with it. It was tiresome to watch. And we were at the point of embrassment; losing to Newport and having Palace consistently wipe their dick all over our

We were in a bad run of form but there were a LOT of people still complaining when we were sat in 7th or 8th, as we were for much of the first half of the season.

The narrative that Leicester fans think we should be challenging the top 4 is definitely overblown but there’s a sizeable proportion of our supporters that think we should be the “best of the rest” and/or be playing scintillating football. But we have a squad that, quality-wise, sits in the middle of the mid-table pack. Even looking at Palace’s squad the other day, they had (in some cases much) better players on paper in a number of positions.

The reality is that nobody outside of the top 4 is playing sparkling football every week - nobody’s even doing that more often than not - and the quality gap between the mid-table sides is so small that a few bad breaks or a poor run of form can be the difference between being sat 7th and 12th.

Puel had enough time to iron out the issues that led us into the bad run we were in and he can’t have any complaints about being sacked. But if people think that we won’t go through a similar experience at some point next season - whoever the manager is -then I think they’re going to be disappointed.

The fact that this debate is being had means we're in trouble as a fanbase.

Have hopes, dreams and expectations, of course, but we're not entitled to anything.

We're not entitled to anything, none of us grew up on City playing super entertaining football and crushing the opposition weekly for any sustained period of time. We can take issue with losing every week and that's generally what happens when we end up in a relegation scrap, although you could just about argue that were not quite there yet.

The idea that we are somehow entitled to entertaining attacking football is complete nonsense though and I'm struggling to think of a time in the last 25 years where it's become such an issue.

It's been rare for us as a club to have seasons when we're not fighting for something at either end of the table. The last two seasons have probably been the most midtable we've been in that time and is probably where it comes from. The loudest and most vitriolic with this form of entitlement though have been those who developed a personal dislike/hatred of Puel around a year ago and didn't have the relegation scrap argument to throw at him until now.

I'm entitled to having a manager drawn out of a hat, comprising FT posters who have come out with drivel of the order of 'My Mrs could manage City & get better results than Puel'.

Entertainment.

Anyone that tells you otherwise is a cancer on the sport that's completely lost touch. Only one team can win the league, we can't all win, that's fine.

But we've all got a right to be entertained, it's what we pay a LOT of money for.

'Here we are now, entertain us!'

I like to win too though I accept no team can win every week.

I largely agree with this statement.  It's a sad indictment that we are not allowed to aspire or dream as a club or as a set of supporters.  I think this is a symptom of the society we now find ourselves in and as a club we have become a bit of a target for these condescending statements from that moron Keown ripping into Shakey for wanting the manager's job when CR was sacked through to opposing fans saying we have a sense of entitlement. There is nothing wrong with wanting better and doing all you can to make your dreams come true as long as you do it with dignity which I believe we do.

Fair comment ttfn.

I suppose what the majority of the fans want is football played at a high tempo - regardless of what style that manifests itself from.

Seeing a lot of discussion from other teams fans that we are "entitled" after our title win in 2016. But what does that mean exactly? What do we feel entitled to be experiencing from our football club and matches?

A run in a cup once in a while?

Attacking intent, expansive football?

To at least be entertained at home matches that we pay hundreds of pounds for each season?

or none of the above?

We are not entitled to anything, but in the same way the club are not entitled to a dedicated loyal noisy fan base.

They made it very difficult to get behind the club with repeated transfer disasters, managerial upheaval and poor communication to fans. All of that is secondary to what is happening on the pitch. When we also have such an appalling home record and long spells of insipid boring football you are not going to get much love.

I would rather lose 4-3 occasionally than win the majority of games with a dull 1-0.

Of course if it was losing EVERY game 3-4 then that would be ridiculous.

It's a hyperbolic argument though isn't it? What people mean when they say that is that they wouldn't mind a couple of heavy defeats if it was a genuine consequence of us playing attacking, entertaining football on a consistent basis.

You're talking about people being upset at playing shit anti football most days and still losing 4-3. That's a bit different.

 Correct in its entirety.

We are entitled to nothing,!!!!  except a team trying their best....because that's the least they get played for...
