Do you think maguire should get straight back in instead of big Wes

Just like last time Maguire was out, our defence for me has looked more solid. If Maguire played like he did for England recently when he concentrated more on his defending he would be absolutely fine. It's when he far too frequently tries to come out with the ball in a slow cumbersome manner that he leaves the defence exposed.

People whining that wes is old and lost pace, yet he is the best blocker of the ball we have at the club and reads the game better than most. And the pace? You make out like Maguire is rapid, he isn't and he has the turning circle of continental drift

Wes has earned his starting place so far

I  agree,  positioning and reading the game as a centre half is far more important than pace which, as you say, Maguire is hardly blessed with,  he just looks more comfortable on the ball. His slow forays forward can be a liability and his positioning is quite suspect at times, in that department Evans is absolutely streets ahead of him. Wes, as old as he is is also a better reader of the game but, we forget sometimes that Maguire is still quite young. I just feel that he needs to concentrate harder on the defensive side of his game.

Give Harry the weekend off to spend time with his new baby and family.

Wes capable and doing well, sonch on the bench.

Absolutely agree. We shouldn’t have anything to fear from Huddersfield, so maybe we can give Harry a rest for another week or two. I’d want him back in the team by the time we play Arsenal though.

Says a lot about Jonny Evans' performances over the last few months that he's not even in this discussion.

Yep! I think he’s vital to the way we’re trying to play at the minute too. Those cross field balls start a lot of attacks!

Wes hasn't just been good but quite phenomenal, these last 2 years especially..

when even now there are dissenters,or posters will even mention Red cards or single mistakes,to make an insignificant argument or point!

That however doesn't change, alter any future situation that BRodgers has planned or will want to advance forward with..!!!

He might want to give Harry some time to recuperrate,he was carrying a knock....whatever it's Rodgers call, and at the moment,a decision either way

doesn't actually upset the applecart....Though some scraped from the gutter journalist, might want to make up a totally irrelevant story here,

which some Dozos on here will see fit to debate upon!!

Will you stop being so nice, it doesn't suit FT, and besides, it plays havoc with my digestive system....

Wes has to keep his place for me was solid last week and our best defensive proven partnership is Evans and Morgan plus Huddersfield are not exactly full of pace.

Bring Harry back next week im sure Morgan can handle one more game.

Maguire will be knackered with his new born baby keeping him up all night.

Let the bloke have some rest and get used to changing nappies.

Wes In.

Keep Big Wes in, he has been phenomenal lately, it will be good for Maguire to learn he can't just come back into the team if others are playing well and that he like everyone else needs to earn their place.

The point is Wes can still be great and do the job, just not over a prolonged period.

What with the form and Harry's new arrival, it seems like this is exactly Wes' role - a solid squad player who can come in and cover.

We're not going to finish seventh - time to give Soyuncu a proper blooding with a view to not loaning him out next season

Everyone in a team/squad earns their place every day every week. It's a competition. You have to be better in training.

Kind of like "king of the hill" that I played when I was a child. Knocking the kid off the top in order to be king. Competition in training is how everyone brings everyone up to the highest level for the game.

The only way that changes is if Rodgers doesn't think you fit his tactical plan for the match.

Wes is the king of the mountain.  Lets see if Harry can knock him off.

At the end of the day, he gets some criticism on here, but harry is our best defender and when fit should start every week.

Also if we want to keep Harry for the next couple of years we have to show him he will play every game

But have decent time off,for the kids,so he doesn't have to deliberately get himself red-carded....

I presume he’s not playing today because he’s just had a baby

I think it was his wife that had it :D

Yeah, he’s on paternity leave
