BlueSi13 Posted 12 May 2019 Posted 12 May 2019 If we manage to keep hold of the core of this team with a couple of quality offensive enhancements I honestly see no reason why we can't TRY to crack the top six. Look at the state of Manchester United for starters! Excited!

Hollyfox Posted 12 May 2019 Posted 12 May 2019 Even at half pace, Chelsea have some incredible ability. We matched them for most of the game and perhaps, could have nicked it. We've come such a long way in a short time and to be able to compete with teams like that, shows how far we have come. We'll done to all that stayed at the end. Very emotional ???

Losing Maguire & Chilwell would be a massive blow to the club. You can't lose two of the best English players in the game & not struggle. We cannot become Southampton Mk ii

LestaAl Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 We played well for some of the game but in the first half the midfield payers were way too negative with their passing backwards. We had chances to get a result but you have to be clinical or you miss out and that's my memory of a frustrating but typical end of season game. Enjoy the summer, its all back in 3 months and who knows what the team will be by then.
CosbehFox Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 I think the bizarre moment of the day was having 80% of the crowd clapping about the new Thai king before kick off

Deeg67 Posted 13 May 2019 Posted 13 May 2019 I give credit to Rodgers for getting Shinji and Simmo on the pitch for a reasonable stretch, and both substitutions actually sort of made sense given the flow of the game, too. I'm so sad knowing we won't be seeing Shinji in a Leicester shirt again. He's such an icon - the best smile in football. We'll never forget him and I can guarantee, he'll never forget Leicester City.

Chelsea applied quite a high press in the first half and I was impressed (though constantly sh1tting myself) at the brave way we played out through it however, they had done their homework and we often struggled to make that next pass between the lines ..... hence we often ended up going back or we lost possession around the half way line. However, their drop off for the last third of the game was either down to tiredness from enforcing that press or the news that spurs were losing. Let’s be positive and say it was down to the way we played and that with a normal substitution strategy we could have gone on to score. Those who say we can manage without maguire don’t appreciate the bravery it takes to play out through a press and his ability to do it. if we lose him then that places a lot of pressure on caglar or benkovic next season. What’s clear is that BR wants to play this way against sides that you want to press us.

Luiz, Azpilicueta, Willian, Jorginho & Loftus-Cheek. So 5. I'd say you're not wrong in that it's a mix of tiredness from Thursday, tiredness from a high-press and the fact they really didn't have to exert so much energy in what was essentially a dead rubber. Chelsea have already qualified for Champions League and I'm guessing none of them fancy picking up any needless injuries before their EL final.

So much said that they don’t care for the coach so the motivation seemed to be to finish ahead of the spuds.
fazzyfox Posted 14 May 2019 Posted 14 May 2019 Anyone else notice how matey Loftus-Cheek was with our England / U-21 players at the end? I want us to get Tielemans of course but if we can't then...... Chelsea fans I spoke to said he's there for keeps now and has finally won his place. Couple that with their potential transfer ban and it's unlikely but it seems a perfect fit and he'd play every week here. I was similarly concerned at how the Spurs lads mobbed Chilwell at Wembley. Please don't do it Ben .
fazzyfox Posted 16 May 2019 Posted 16 May 2019 Oh dear, hold fire on that plan of mine. Just as his fans said he had finally arrived and taken his place too. Could be "up to a year out" apparently. Get well soon Reuben.
