AyewJoking Posted 12 May 2019 Posted 12 May 2019 9th not bad at all considering we spent majority of it trying to adapt to puels style, lots of young players and as much as it doesnt sit comfortably with me, using the helicopter tragedy as an excuse, that will have obviously taken a huge toll.
mikey54 Posted 12 May 2019 Posted 12 May 2019 Only 1 goal conceded in the last 3 games against top 6 teams. Merson suggested earlier that Arsenal should sign our back four en bloc
copunk Posted 12 May 2019 Posted 12 May 2019 Says alot about how far we have come when some are disheartened at a 0-0 draw against chelsea

Beechey Posted 12 May 2019 Posted 12 May 2019 A comfortable win, narrow loss and equal draw in our final three games was excellent.
st albans fox Posted 12 May 2019 Posted 12 May 2019 Solid in the end to get a 0-0 with Simmo and Shinji out there whilst it was a roper game we struggled with their movement but we held firm.

Guest Posted 12 May 2019 Posted 12 May 2019 Disappointing. A good chance to seal 8th and finish with a coule of big wins during our last 3 matches. Vardy was on the beach. Tielemans had already returned to Monaco. N'Didi thought it was his job to hand out the gifts. Rodgers obviously wasn't bothered or he'd never have given Okazki 30 minutes (that's more than he should have got in total this season) and he brought Simmo on to mark Hazard - thankfully the only time he looked exposed was when he went past the halfway line. Too much passing backwards in the first half when we have a number of players in front of the ball. Not enough use of Tielemans. Barnes introduced far too late. Thankfully Kasper made some good saves (but some terrible kicks). Evans was on form, Chilly had a good game, Hamza was great, Madders was decent and Marc ran around a lot. The result was okay but they were there for the taking. The last match is as important as the first. Looking forward to next season. Now let's get another good striker and an attacking midfielder of at least Tielemans standard if not better (and a back-up LB).
Nicolo Barella Posted 12 May 2019 Posted 12 May 2019 Barnes did more in the insulting time given to him than Albrighton all game.

kingfox Posted 12 May 2019 Posted 12 May 2019 Crap game, sloppy performance. Defence were decent, Evans MOTM for me. Only highlights of the game were Simmo and Shinji coming on. Roll on next season
TonyN11 Posted 12 May 2019 Posted 12 May 2019 I would summarise by saying …… oh, sorry, off on my summer holidays

lcfcsnow Posted 12 May 2019 Posted 12 May 2019 Three tasks for Rodgers this over the next few months. Sort the holding role out, Ndidi clearly doesn't provide what he needs from this position, that first half today was such a struggle to make any movement up the pitch. Maddison and Albrighton out wide doesn't work. He's said he wants goals from out wide, well Albrighton isn't going to provide any and by moving Maddison to the left we're doing the oppositions job ourselves of nullifying him. This also means the pace of the side is really lacking as these two are not blessed with any. Backup striker desperately needed, Vardy wasn't in the game all match but we don't have any options. I think Rodgers would ideally like a system like at Liverpool where the three forwards interchange, hopefully he can make it happen.
StanSP Posted 12 May 2019 Posted 12 May 2019 After the tragedy earlier in the season and having the kind of manager that Puel is, finishing 9th isn't a bad feat. Purely begs the question of what could have been had we hired Rodgers earlier... Whilst it's not great to dwell on hindsight, it further begs the question of how good next season could be...?!

I think a priority is to work with Harvey on his defensive contribution so that we can start him in matches like today’s with confidence. He makes such a difference going forward though. Him and Chilwell seemed to be on a better wavelength today too.
Livid Posted 12 May 2019 Posted 12 May 2019 Not the worst 0-0 i’ve ever attended. It’s over a £1 million per place in the PL and we gave Shinji and Simmo a curtain call performance. Just shows in the grand scheme of things how little that extra place between 9th and 8th actually matters.
