He clearly clarifies the comment that he will score x amount of goals this term and the unsustainable part is that he would not be repeating the goal figures of last season. Poor choice of words with seemingly a double meaning!!!! Oh I see! My mistake, apologise about the rant then and protecting hin like his Dad ?

ScouseFox Posted 11 August 2019 Posted 11 August 2019 needs to start every home game, teams come to us and are happy for us to pass it around or for maddison to hit shots over the bar. they are not gonna be happy when we give this kid the ball and he just runs right through the c unts.
NewburyFox Posted 11 August 2019 Posted 11 August 2019 Great talent. His pace and direct running causes chaos.

Spot on, we need his directness as there's precious little of it elsewhere.
Ric Flair Posted 24 August 2019 Posted 24 August 2019 He's a game changer, very nearly did it against Wolves and then comes on today and wins us a very difficult and tight game. We are very laboured and restricted so far this season in this bizarre set up of Rodgers but thankfully Barnes isn't wasting any small opportunity he gets. We all know he needs to improve his end product and restricting the amount of football he plays seems to have challenged him positively, however he needs to start next week and let's turn it up a notch. So excited for how this kid progresses this season, got the world at his feet.

Langston Posted 24 August 2019 Posted 24 August 2019 Never ever ever wanted a player to do it for us more than I have with him. What a bloke

Lesta2014 Posted 24 August 2019 Posted 24 August 2019 Reckon he will start on Tuesday! What a finish!
jaylcfc94 Posted 24 August 2019 Posted 24 August 2019 Very exciting player. Ndidi holding, Youri and Maddison ahead with front line of Barnes, Vardy and Perez or maybe a better winger in January.
sdb Posted 24 August 2019 Posted 24 August 2019 Surely he'll get a start midweek. He might be the man to save us all from this dire diamond business!! Please Harv!!
jaylcfc94 Posted 24 August 2019 Posted 24 August 2019 I hope Perez manages to get a goal on Wednesday against his former club to boost his confidence although I think Kelechi will most likely start

So excited for how this kid progresses this season, got the world at his feet. I'm not so sure he does need to start! I think Rodgers is using him in an intelligent way because as you say when he comes on, he is a game changer. But he's often not a game changer when he starts. I do have to confess I am a bit baffled as to why we aren't playing Maddison and Tielemans as the two 8's in the 4141 so we could have Barnes / Albrighton / Perez / Gray on the wings, but at the same time we've been a lot narrower this season with the full backs being relied upon for our width. So that's probably why a lot of the wingers have missed out compared to last season. Barnes will eventually be a starter but I don't think he needs to be rushed. As long as he keeps having a positive impact that's a good thing for the club. At the moment he will be pushing the players ahead of him to step up the game, and competition can be healthy!
Foxxed Posted 24 August 2019 Posted 24 August 2019 I never understood why Bren wasn't playing Barnes towards end of last season and neither the start of this season. Increasingly I'm assuming Bren wants Maddison and Perez as inverted winger and wants to justify his 30 million splurge on Perez. But Barnes is just too good. He's our best attacking midfieder who can shoot. Maddison is obviously outstanding but there's only one midfielder I want when we have a chance at goal.

He's a fantastic game changer but after watching Perez for the last three matches and realising we have Barnes on the bench I am baffled. If Bren wants an inverted winger why not play Barnes who happy on either wing or in the number 10 role? Play Perez or Albrighton when we need a more defensive setup but when we're trying to break down teams it's Barnes all day for me.

I know what you're saying but I think without him currently we are quite turgid and only playing him for 30 minutes is essentially meaning for two thirds of a game we are risking being ineffective. I'm sure we will find our groove soon but it might need the obvious return to the successful system we saw last season with Albrighton, Gray and obviously Barnes far more involved. I love how he is being challenged to bring end product without the platform to play his way in to it with start after start like some youngsters get (Chilwell being one example). He seems to be getting much more dangerous with less football on offer, but as I've said I dont think we can afford right now to not start him. He seems our most dangerous player.
Aesc Posted 24 August 2019 Posted 24 August 2019 What a strike that was! That will do his confidence the world of good. Got to start him to build on that now; he'll start banging them in. He can play wing, inside forward or striker, so system shouldn't be an issue.
ScouseFox Posted 24 August 2019 Posted 24 August 2019 easily our most dynamic player. doesn’t give a shit about anything other than when he gets the ball and half an opportunity then he is going to make sure the ball ends up nearer to the fu cking goal. exactly what we need pretty much all the time. everyone else will benefit from him being in the team, he will commit opposition defenders and everyone else will be free to take advantage if harvey doesn’t do the business himself. belter goal today as well. should do him a lot of good.

Well I can definitely see your side of the argument too! For me if I had to sum up our season so far, I would say that we have been good in patches but not quite put it all together yet. I feel like we've brought an exciting new Lego set (stay with me!) and have tipped all the pieces on the floor, but haven't quite worked out how to put together the pieces in the right way. But for me the encouraging thing is despite not knowing our best team or even formation, we are getting results and playing in a decent style. The potential is there, is just needs to be coaxed out. Luckily I have seen the future, and it looks something like this:
Mehrez Posted 24 August 2019 Posted 24 August 2019 Every time I see him play I just want to see him play more, genuinely think in two years time he’ll be the star player in our team, he’s got it all
