lol Don't worry; it almost got autocorrected to Samson in my sarcy reply.

On the plus side, maybe if he grows his hair longer he'll get loads better. Needs to make sure he doesn't shave it off though...

Wasn't this guy highly linked with Wolves? They were prepared to break their club record for him or something?

I've heard good things about him, though I wonder if whoever comes in is happy to be a squad player rather than first team? I will say though that the recent friendly made it understandable why Rodgers wanted another number 8. In the first half the crisp passing was being led by the Mendy / Tielemans / Leshabela trio. In the second half, the passing was slower and it slowed the whole team back down to Puel pace. We will start with Tielemans and Maddison, but having someone who can step in during the season to help out / rotate would clearly have value.

What's interesting about all these rumours is that obviously someone's pretty convinced we want another centre midfielder.

It does get to a point where you think no smoke without fire.

Would probably prefer Sanson to Praet unless Tielemans and Praet had a brilliant understanding together at Anderlecht.

We need another 8 if Silva is off but having spent £40 odd million on a first choice I’m unsure if we’ll spend more than £20 million quid on a back up plan... but when your choices are Mendy and King et al to fill the void if YT twists his ankle... I can see where Brendan is coming from.

What makes reports like this almost nonsense is that they wheel out the same rivals that are showing an interest. It would be more credible if they actually spent some time working out that Everton have about 15 central midfielders and are desperate for wingers and strikers.

It's clear we want another creative midfielder though, Rodgers seems more interested in that area than out wide it seems, might be our only obvious problem I can envisage next season if he goes with the 4 we currently have.

If we're serious then we need good backup, plus I'm sure we're well aware that a great season by Maddison / Tielemans and he's likely to be subject of serious interest, getting them in now a bit like Justin is, solid forward planning, if an expensive way of going about it.

Chances are we use the same batch of scouts, outside the top levels inside each club they often use loads freelancers who specialise in certain areas.

Yeah good point. I thought Justin was brilliant against Scunthorpe. In all honesty felt sorry for him as the positions he can play in he’s not gonna get much of a look in but hope he stays in the first team squad and gets some minutes.

Surely we aren't going to spend this sort of money on another midfielder then splash another £30m on a winger? If it's one or the other, we should be going for a winger.

The manager will make that call, I'm sure he's perhaps looking at it and with one injury you're forced to play someone out of position or change your entire formation. With the wingers, and Perez playing wider then if means there as plenty of options out there... if a few question marks.

From BR's latest interview, it looks like we are DEFINATELY on the hunt for another no.8 type player.
