Wymsey Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 They're now just left with five senior players. Another victim of poor leadership at the board level. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49356817 Presume that they have a fairly strong fanbase, albeit not being a club 'fancied' or being 'glamourous' by many. A sad state of affairs for them, when you see that clubs like Accrington Stanley and Lincoln City are doing better than in quite a few aspects now.
Fox92 Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 Been talked about a lot in the league 1/2 thread. They aren't 'glamourous' but they're a founder member of the football league and it's sad to see a club like that in the mess they are now. I saw their teamsheet last week and it was made up of 16/17/18 year olds. Fans are doing well to keep going though and it has been good to see both parties acknowledge each other well after the Wycombe and Coventry games.
Langston Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 How have they gotten in such a mess? Just off the top of my head so I'm probably wrong but they never seemed like huge spenders in the Prem or even the Championship.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 These and Coventry are perfect examples of what can go wrong if the owners are inept, very sad.
SystonFox Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 My first lcfc away game with mates (without the care of parent) was Bolton away in the league cup when they were prem and we were champ. Really liked the reebok stadium as it was at the time and Gareth Williams belted one in late in extra time to give us hope but a 2-1 defeat entailed. they were a good sized club and a staple in the prem 10 years ago
Tuna Posted 15 August 2019 Posted 15 August 2019 Bassini's legal challenge was thrown out I believe, and the sale of the club will now presumably go through. Plenty of free agents for Bolton to get in to buttress the squad, although with the points deduction this season will probably be a write off anyway. Starting next season in league 2 but still with a football club will be enough for supporters in the circumstances I guess.
MC Prussian Posted 16 August 2019 Posted 16 August 2019 Hope they recover, have a bit of a "grey mouse" feel about them, an air of mediocrity, seemingly around forever in the Premier League a few years back, but never pulling out any trees. Maybe the crisis can act as a catalyst and only good things to come from it. Phoenix from the Ashes and whatnot.
isaidno Posted 19 August 2019 Posted 19 August 2019 https://www.bwfcandproud.com/post/wanderers-game-against-doncaster-is-suspended Bolton vs Doncaster postponed. What a mess.
oxford blue Posted 26 August 2019 Posted 26 August 2019 It's not looking good... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49470865 Thir fans deserve something better. On the first day of the season nearly 1700 travelled to Wycombe and were still singing at the end (they lost 2-0).
fox in the sox Posted 27 August 2019 Posted 27 August 2019 The Sun reporting there is still hope for them.
foxfanazer Posted 27 August 2019 Posted 27 August 2019 Makes you realise just how much we lucked out with our owners
DerbyshireFox Posted 27 August 2019 Posted 27 August 2019 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49491632 14 days to get a deal over the line, or they will sadly follow Bury out of the football league

moore_94 Posted 28 August 2019 Posted 28 August 2019 Just seen this also... I would say Pearson is a pretty good manager to go for if you want someone to build a squad from nothing

It could just as easily have been a SISU or Steve Dale taking over our club.
