Finnegan Posted 11 October 2019 Posted 11 October 2019 I want Japan to win the group as long as its by beating Scotland. I actually think it'll be worse for Japan than Scotland long term if the game is called off. Scotland are just Scotland, they're not going to really be any different to what they are now. The also-ran of British rugby. Professionalism killed them and they aren't coming back. But Japan could be a genuine tier one power and it'd do so, so much for the sport globally if the Japanese developed a real, real love of the game. The investment could be phenomenal. At a time when the sport has its major issues with as well, its seriously in trouble in Australia and South Africa. I think if they go through on a technicality, draw the world's ire for it and then just get twatted anyway by the Saffers it'll take a lot of the shine off.
Nalis Posted 11 October 2019 Posted 11 October 2019 Only shit thing is if the Japan Scotland game goes ahead and Japan win the group then SA will have 5 days more rest than them for the QF.
Finnegan Posted 11 October 2019 Posted 11 October 2019 I don't see them beating South Africa with six months rest tbf.
Nalis Posted 12 October 2019 Posted 12 October 2019 Ireland Samoa pitch was resurfaced and looks like it will last about 10 minutes....
Finnegan Posted 12 October 2019 Posted 12 October 2019 When you consider that a Samoan Eligible XV would probably be a contender to win the tournament, it's kinda a shame to see the state of the Samoan team. This will be a cricket score. They're so crap atm.
Nalis Posted 12 October 2019 Posted 12 October 2019 Not just the players but its annoying to see any potentially decent coaches taken from the pacific islanders by the big teams as they cant afford the same wages. Creates an even bigger gulf. Samoa's discipline and tactics have been poor throughout this world cup. As for Ireland, job done. In Autumn 2019, Aki deserved to go sadly, wonder how long the ban will be for.
Vacamion Posted 12 October 2019 Posted 12 October 2019 If Japan and Scotland can't play their game due to a weather issue, it should be settled old school, using the method that opposing rugby teams have used to compete in the club house since time immemorial. Drinking games, a sing song, a boat race and the toilet paper challenge.

Finnegan Posted 12 October 2019 Posted 12 October 2019 watching the grand final and some Saints lad has just smacked a Salford player in the face with a shoulder then nutted him on the floor. Ref doesn't see a foul. The difference between the two codes at the minute
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 Wales understandably sleepwalking through this game. Uruguay have been OK though tbf.

Not really understandably given these guys should be putting their hand up to try and get a starting place. We really just don't have much strength in depth at all. Amos, Watkin, Aled Davies are average Pro 14 players. They're just not good enough to be at a world cup.
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 Well done Uruguay. Deserved that try. Put in a real shift this game.
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 Wales have been sloppy as hell. At least 3 nailed on tries they've fluffed.

It's been poor but then I don't think many of the main offenders will play again unless we've got injuries.
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 So come on then, balls on the table. Will Scotland do what's required to go through? I'll say yes.

Heart says no, head says yes. A lot will depend on Japan's defence. If they want to be a tier one nation, they've got to defend like one. They did against Ireland but then Ireland attack like Wales, functional, robotic, unimaginative. Scotland are like a poundshop Fiji, they'll throw it around and put some good moves together. On paper it should be a good contest of two attacking teams but it'll represent a different challenge to Japan's defence. If they can shut it down and frustrate Scotland and the crowd start really getting behind them then they definitely have the quality going forward to put points on the Scots. So yeah, defend well, get the upper hand in the loose and could be a win.
ScouseFox Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 japan are well cooler than scotland so i hope they win
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 Great try Japan. Both teams all out attack.
ScouseFox Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 so was that, isn't it also fun to watch scotland lose at literally anything to literally anyone
foxes_rule1978 Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 Another great try; think the scots could be in for a thrashing
