Nalis Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 There definitely a feel of South Korea in 2002 about Japan, it more ways than one.
Finnegan Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 @Vacamion I hope you work with some rugby fans.Â

Problem is that SA have effectively had an extra week to rest.

Don't be fooled in to thinking this is some romantic miracle.  Fukuoka, Nagare, Matsushima, Himeno, Horie, these guys are legitimately world class.Â

That's true.  Oh, hang on, moderation to my previous post 'cos I hadn't read the draw properly: Japan can take either Wales or France in the semifinal too. Sorry @Finnegan.
Finnegan Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 They almost certainly won't beat South Africa tbh.  I'd love it if they do and I'm not saying it's impossible but don't get carried away.  This isn't a shock. This isn't a miracle. Scotland aren't very good and Japan are, Japan were ranked above Scotland in the world before this. Rightly so.  South Africa are a much different beast.

I know, that's why I said I'm sticking my neck out.  I'll maintain that if they do manage it they'll make the final and get mullered by NZ.

Nalis Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 Scotland would basically need to get to 36 points consisting of another try. Edit - and have Japan not score again of course! Â Time is on their side, great game no matter what happens.
Finnegan Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 Regardless who wins, I think one more Japan try will be enough to see Scotland out.Â
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 Just wondering if Japan should've set up for the drop goal there.

Nalis Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 Random point but Japan will either play SA next or go out as they cant finish 2nd in the group anymore.
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 13 October 2019 Posted 13 October 2019 Japan are out of gas now. Just got to hang on now.
