PS5

Out of interest, who would pick up the "light" version of the new consoles and who will go for the full fat versions? I'm not sure I'd be OK going without a disk drive, if Modern Warfare is anything to go buy new games are going to be 2/300GB as standard this generation see even with a TB hard drive that's 3/4 games until you're buggered and have to buy more storage, probably wiping out the saving you made in the first place.

Also with the Xbox offering of 1440p vs 4K, I know 1440p would look great especially on a big TV but there would always be that part of you that knew if could look even better. So I guess I've answered my own question there lol

Full fat PS5. I like being able to trade games in when I'm done with them and the internet here isn't the quickest so digital only wouldn't be ideal for me. That said, I'd be tempted by the Series S as essentially a Game Pass machine (I think that's basically what it's designed to be) if I didn't have a PC.

Nope not great. Is it difficult to expand? Never done it or even looked into it on a console.

Usually it's as simple as just swapping out the hard-drive for a bigger one but it might be a bit more difficult this generation as you'll need to buy a drive that meets a similar specification to the internal SSD in the console. There is space in the PS5 for additional storage but we don't know yet which drives will be compatible, or how much they'll cost. Sony will, at some point, publish a list of compatible drives and will likely also offer their own officially licensed options - none of which are likely to be cheap. For the Series X, you can get a 1TB storage expansion card that plugs into the back of the console like memory cards in the good old days. Again, probably quite expensive.

You can get an external hard drive like @Leicester_Loyal says with the caveat that next-gen games almost certainly won't run off them. The ideal solution is probably to use one of them to store your PS3/4 or Xbox 360/One games on and keep the SSD free for new games until additional internal storage is cheaper and more widely available.

You'll be buying it regardless you little nerd:D

Gonna pre-order it? Or wait a bit till they iron out the issues and the price drops slightly?

I bought the PS4 shortly after launch and it still goes strong.  No problems with it.

The 360 I bought when they released the Elite and the disk drive went, as did the PS3s...  lol

Rumour has it tonight there will be a God of War 2, Silent Hill and Metal Gear reveal.  Tbf, I'd settle for just one of those three.

Don't talk to me about the 360s, I had about 5 because of RRoD. I remember one summer as a kid one went, took about 3 weeks to get it back, meant I had to actually go outside and play rather than sit on CoD 4lol

Looking forward to the release, I'd love for them to re-do some PS1/PS2 classics and throw them at us too.

Awesome. Chuffed with the GOW teaser, stunned it's supposedly out next year.

The initial collection of games they are making free at launch is awesome as well, instantly destroys the Game Pass

I have to admit the Hogwarts legacy game has me intrigued, always wanted a Harry Potter (hopefully) Open World game

It’s crazy the difference in the 2 ps5 reveals... first 1 left me kind of Ünderwhelmed but this round nocked it out the park! I only play a small group of games but I could honestly see me playing most of what was shown tonight! They all just looked so good.... can’t believe they’ve undercut Microsoft as well really didn’t see that coming 🙌🏻

Those free games on plus will take me a whole year or two to get through lol

Was looking at some of those to buy not long ago, Persona 5, Days Gone, FFXV, annoyed too I missed Detroit back when that was free.

A little annoyed not to see Horizon, can see this getting pushed back into 2022 at this rate.

It's all good.  Buy the console for 450 and have access to a load of free stuff.

That plus collection is great and I'm sure they'll add things like ghost of tsushima, death stranding and last of us 2 after the sales for them games become non existent at some point next year, but I suppose that depends on which games they port to pc, I noticed horizon wasn't on the plus collection and I assume the reason is it recently launched on pc. Are they going to run on the actual ps5 hardware or be straight ported as the architecture is so similar? What has me most excited is potentially being able to play the last guardian with a decent frame rate, but I won't hold my breathe. Hopefully they have a killer launch plus game as well, I remember sinking dozens of hours in to resogun when I got a launch ps4 as the launch line up was pretty sparse. The fact you'll be able to play so many really good ps4 games on it at launch should help in that regard this time around although it's not really what you buy a new console for, it's certainly a welcome addition. Bring it on, of the new games coming they showed tonight the one I liked the look of most was Deathloop, looks really interesting.

Quite a few game journos reporting on Sony having God of War 3 up their sleeve to be revealed along with console prices this month. Please be true!

Woo! Next year for the biggies which is a shame but plenty to be getting on with this year and guess it's something to look forward to.
